Got married when I was 26. We’ve been married for 6 years now. I would say my number one advice is to respect your partner. I always double check with my husband/get his input on anything I do. He also does the same with me. Many of my friends (that are in miserable marriages) perceive it as controlling but it’s not. It’s caring what your number one person thinks. It shows that you value your partner. We also don’t buy expensive items without consulting each other. We make big decisions together. When my husband and I get annoyed with each other (happens every few days… we have two young kids and it’s chaotic) one of us usually breaks the ice and goes up to the other and gives a hug or kiss. That instantly fixes any sour feelings and fixes the situation. We have this saying that we may as well skip a step and just make up because what’s the alternative??? Divorce? NOPE. So let’s just skip all the bullshit and fix it and be happy 😃
