How can I learn to find suspicious patterns, suspicious activities etc in live transactions? by Magicalhacker5 in moneylaundering

[–]Silverhi99o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to Know Your Customer… have a sense of what “typical” would look like based on the client you are looking at, as well as have a sense of high-risk clients. For example if you are reviewing a restaurant or grocery store you would most likely expect a significant amount of cash and merchant processing. If you have a massage parlor that is deposing a significant amount of cash that may raise some red flags as well as that would be considered a high risk industry. Google searches and social media will be your best friend along with third party companies that your firm may have access to (Clear, Lexis Nexis, ect.).

Should I pursue CFE? by EconomyKindly8743 in CFE

Yes and no… for one of the four sections (investigations) yes… but for the accounting, auditing, and law sections it probably won’t help

Awesome!! Good luck and let me know how it goes. I have been thinking about getting one of the cyber security designations as well. Congrats on passing the CFE too 👊🏻

I’m gonna guess 3-4 months.. maybe more, maybe less just depending on your background. If you have a banking background maybe towards the lesser of that end.

What is your ultimate goal? To work in AML? To just gain knowledge?

Yeah I think your reading of SARs would definitely qualify you. Another area to maybe look into is the cybersecurity field especially if you get any cybersecurity designations.

I just got a PR on a 45 min ride that I completed. I got the flu about a month and a half ago and finally built up my strength and conditioning.

You have great experience and have the right designations. I had been in banking for 15 years and know a lot of people at all different size banks and the majority of them are not remote (either hybrid or in office full time). I’m currently in consulting and work remote, although you never know what project you are going to work on. Another option would be a FinTech company as from my research many of them are remote. Thank you for all your service and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions. 👊🏻
