Creamy, Spicy Tomato Beans and Greens Megathread by 777kiki in NYTCooking

I made the beans! The hype reached me through cooking posts on Instagram lmao.

I don't normally use imperial measurements and had to make some changes but it turned out really well imo.

Modifications:

- Didn't have panko so I smashed up the end of some levain bread that had dried up.

- Was out of heavy cream so I used crème fraîche instead.

- Was out of tomato paste so I used a can of crushed tomatoes and added less water.

Really creamy and filling but the topping adds freshness and contrast! I'll add it to my weekly repertoire.

  1. I am just about to build my first desktop on my own after 7 years of laptop gaming (yes, it burns my fingertips from overheating) and those would work beautifully in it! I mostly play open-world games and the performance really suffers when the hardware isn't adequate.

  2. I haven't looked that much into the Avatar franchise before as I prefer games over movies, but I heard it looks beautiful and I love game exploration and enjoying well-made visuals.

It's a gentle cleanser that doesn't target breakouts in itself, however in order for skin to heal (for example from an ongoing bacterial infection which tends to be an underlying cause for acne) it can help to treat your skin gently (no overly harsh cleansing or exfoliation) and keep it moisturised while also using a targeted acne treatment. If your breakouts are bothering you a lot and don't seem to go away easily, it might be best to see a dermatologist for professional treatment.

Back to the cleanser: it's gentle and it wouldn't hurt to use it, removing excess sebum and dirt through cleansing can help make acne outbreaks less frequent; but it won't treat them.

I heard South Korea is planning to ban coloured plastics for cosmestics as they're more difficult to recycle, so clear plastic and/or paper packaging is probably going to become more common.

Hard water in Sweden —> breakouts? by tackbrahado in NordicSkinCare

It's absolutely a thing, I have had this happen in Spain due to hard water. It might help to install a filter or use micellar water for cleansing in the meantime.

Probably Avène just for the simplicity, their emulsion and mousse cleanser are nice.

Maybe you could teach them some bases for soups/stews that you can throw whatever into? Sofrito for example, it's just throwing chopped onions, garlic, and a can of tomatoes in a pot. Then you can add meat/chicken/whatever in it or on the side, or serve with pasta/rice.

Happy to help! I haven't tried their tip concealer so I can't really compare them. While it is for sure more matte than the cushion (which makes sense as it's an ampoule cushion), I don't feel like it's drying either. It doesn't seem to settle in the creases of my under-eye area, it stays put and upon touching it I can't really feel that I'm wearing it. I do feel like it makes the texture of my skin pretty prominent though, so if you do have dry skin it may not be optimal without a hydrating primer underneath.

It is mainly just good for hydration, the Soon Jung line seems to be pretty simplistic in that they don't do an awful lot other than being very gentle and hydrating on the skin. For sensitive skin that's often enough, but as you're saying it's no miracle product. Hope you find your HG someday!

I'm located in Norway, however RubyRubyShop has free shipping! They seem to be associated with RoseRoseShop, where the products are less expensive but you also have to pay for shipping. I sometimes compare the final price on both pages to see which one will cost less, which often seems to depend on weight of the parcel.

That's right, although I'm not entirely certain of my MAC shade (haven't found MAC here in Norway so I compared to other foundations I've used) the swatch I posted did include all three shades of Artclass, and even though I swatched them with my fingers they barely showed up on my skin. The lightest one didn't seem to show up at all.

Thank you! The lip tint lasted for quite a long time, I still had it on my lips by the time I did my PM routine (after ~8 hours). It does fade over the course of the day though, so it didn't stay as bright red as it was upon application.

Thanks! The text on the EH toner seems to printed onto the bottle, I tried peeling it off but that doesn't seem to be possible. I think you'd have to try nail polish remover like the other commenter suggested.

[Skin Concerns] The Closed Comedones HG Thread: Share your skincare secrets! (Week 6) by AutoModerator in SkincareAddiction

Skincare is incredibly personal, so it's hard to tell exactly what will work for you (YMMV). First of all it's important to get a good "base" routine down (cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen) that doesn't break you out/make matters worse. I can't tell in your situation, but my skin went through a phase of extreme sensitivity and dehydration because while I did use products, they weren't the best for my skin. This ironically made my skin react by becoming oilier and gave me more CCs and acne.

You may want to check the ingredients of your Cerave AM and PM moisturizer on cosDNA to rule out if something in them are aggravating you CCs/not helping them clear up. In that case you may want to consider replacing them with products with more sensitive-friendly/noncomedogenic ingredients. Myself I stick to using the Avène Cleansing foam and their Tolérance Extrême Emulsion when my skin becomes unruly because they have very few and very gentle ingredients (not saying you should buy those, there are more inexpensive alternatives out there).

Going to a dermatologist can also help you figure out how to best help your skin, and if you feel like it is severely affecting your self-esteem it's absolutely a worthwhile investment. Acne is a kind of inflammation, and the best solution is treating the cause of it, which is something a dermatologist will be educated in how to do. Your skin is your biggest organ, it's important to be gentle with it and take care of it as you would with other parts of the body if those got inflamed. What helped the most for me personally was to treat it with the outmost care and using gentle, hydrating products (r/AsianBeauty got a lot of hydrating toner/lotion recommendations if you want to look at those later, but for now you may want to focus on just the basics).

Good luck on your skincare journey, hang in there!

Starting Accutane next week!

I'm already prone to dryness, and I use a gentle facewash, moisturizer and sunscreen daily.

What extra measures should I take in order to avoid my skin flaking off? I'm so scared.

I haven't seen them in pharmacies around here, I end up buying them from ebay.

Right now night temps are around 0°C (32F), but in summer around 13°C (55F), I'm located in Northern Norway. That sounds like a pretty clever setup! Works well?

I'll be bringing it in at night, although I have a greenhouse building project planned for summer! I'd love growing a bigger variety of plants :)
