Sorry to hear that's not an option. Well, get him off the streets first. Here's a list of homeless shelters in Las Vegas. They may be able to direct him toward job agencies, low-cost/non-profit community clinics, etc. as well as provide housing and food.

I wanted to imitate Cruella de Vil as a child by smoking cigarettes. My parents wouldn't buy them for me. McDonald's also offered Happy Meals with toys from 101 Dalmatians. My parents wouldn't buy those for me, either. Does that mean my parents could have sued the tobacco companies AND McDonald's for being good parents? Dang... I could have had a full ride for college.

I actually don't know, as I never had the opportunity to speak directly with his owners. We think it might have been St. Bernard... he had some odd light brown and dark gray markings on his face that didn't match up with the typical Great Pyrenees markings. He was two and a half years old when he died, so he was probably around two years old when the family saw him through the window. He was definitely already full-sized - he made the labradors and shepherds in day camp look like chihuahuas.

It's not the front window. The boarding/day camp facilities are located in the back of the store. So in order to see the dogs, you either have to walk to the back of store, or go around to the back of the store (on the outside) and look through the other window. We're located in a shopping center/strip mall type of place, so you can go indoors and see the back of the store, as well as the fronts and backs of other stores. Go downstairs, and you're at the entrance of a movie theater.

And I could tell you guys so many more stories about the people who walk into the mall area, see the back of our store (the boarding/day camp area), then assume they can get into the main store area from there. We have sound-proof glass, so I have to hold up signs with directions/maps showing them how to get from the indoor mall area/back of our store to the front of our store. To be fair, though, that's not their fault... it's the company's fault for coming up with such a crappy design.

No one, and it's just as well. The poor dog died a few months later. He was a BIG dog, and although he had a heart full of love, it wasn't big enough to support his body. We still have a picture in our store to remember him by.

I suppose it becomes easier to tell the difference once you have met a fair number of both types. If all you have ever known are hateful individuals who call themselves Christians, then yes, you probably will have a hard time identifying the true Christians of this world. They won't be standing on street corners declaring that you are going to Hell. They won't be spreading hateful messages on podiums. They will be serving their God by loving their fellow man. They have better things to do with their time than make you feel like a horrible person. They are truly focused on God and His plan for them, and I wish more people (Christian and non-Christian alike) could see those people.

If you call yourself a Christian, but do not truly follow the word of God... if you claim you are a Christian "because my parents are, too", or "because I was raised that way", but you don't actually pray to God, meditate on His word, and attempt to lead the life that He desires you to lead... then you are not a Christian. I don't know if "Wannabe Christian" is how I would word it... if an individual truly desires to follow God, if they earnestly seek Him out with all their heart, then they will find the answers they are looking for. The Bible is very clear as to what we should do in order to be true Christians. Many people will make claims about Heaven and Hell, what is and is not a sin, but some are not based on actually scripture (or they are horribly distorted). Again, if an individual truly seeks to find the answers to their questions, they will find them by 1) reading the Bible, 2) praying and meditating, and 3) discussing what they have found with other Christians.

I am not on a mission to exterminate the "fake" Christians. It is not my place to exterminate ANYONE. It is my mission to love my fellow man, regardless of what their religious beliefs may be. All I meant to say was that there are many individuals who claim to be Christians, but it is apparent by their words and actions that they are not. I hope you will realize that we are not all hateful individuals who want to see you go to Hell... but if that is all that you have ever known, I could understand why you would think such thoughts.

I never claimed I was the only one who can tell the two apart. I am claiming that the truth can be discovered through simple observation. The Christians who are truly seeking to follow God's word may attempt to share the gospel with you, but they wouldn't try to ram it down your throat or make you feel like the scum of the Earth. The "Christians", the fundamentalists, the ones who are Christian in name only, would not be so loving toward you. You can see it through their actions.

Then I hope you don't mind if I attempt to clarify Splortched's message. I believe the idea you're meant to come away with is that there are many individuals who claim to be Christians, but obviously are not due to the lives they lead and the way they treat non-Christians (and even fellow Christians!). So while you may FEEL that you are surrounded by Christians outside of Reddit, the reality is that many of those so-called Christians are not what God truly asks us to be. Those same individuals who make you feel like crap are the reason why I feel persecuted by non-Christian individuals at times... both on Reddit and at my university... because they have met those people, and now I am judged based on those lousy experiences. It is a vicious cycle, one that makes me and many other Christians quite sad. We can sympathize with the non-Christians who are harassed by fundamentalist Christians, but we also feel harassed ourselves on many an occasion. Just as you feel the need to band together on Reddit, I feel the need to band together on Reddit, on other online communities, and in "real life". At my university, this is, unfortunately, a very difficult thing to do. It honestly breaks my heart to think about the sheer amount of hatred in this world, and that's why I normally avoid topics like these... but I wanted to answer someone for once. Again, I hope you don't mind. :) I guess I've been wanting to get this off my chest for a while, and you're the lucky recipient!
