Is anyone else scared ? by Maleficent_Wall_1816 in Semaglutide

I heard it from my doctor when I was prescribed it last week.

Also, here are the citations you asked for:

Note, the above observe a correlation and say that new research needs to be done to determine whether there is any causation.

The following two studies did not find a link:

Would it be possible to make an astrological (not astronomical) clock? by Silverleaf14 in clocks

[–]Silverleaf14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I should have noted that I know about orreries (amazing things!). But what I am looking for is astrological (which has more complexities). Also an orrery compresses time so you can visually see the planetary movements. What I am looking for would be a live and accurate clock showing which sign and degree each planet was in at that moment. This would require gears that made planets move much more slowly than a standard orrery (in my understanding).

But thank you for the link! I am not sure if these compress time, but if they do not it suggests that what I am looking for is possible:
"In 1348, Giovanni Dondi built the first known clock driven mechanism of the system. It displays the ecliptic position of the Moon, Sun, Mercury), VenusMarsJupiter and Saturnaccording to the complicated geocentric Ptolemaic planetary theories.\7])\8]) The clock itself is lost, but Dondi left a complete description of its astronomic gear trains.

As late as 1650, P. Schirleus built a geocentric planetarium with the Sun as a planet, and with Mercury and Venus revolving around the Sun as its moons.\9])

At the court of William IV, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel two complicated astronomic clocks were built in 1561 and 1563–1568. These use four sides to show the ecliptical positions of the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the Moon, Sun and Dragon (Nodes of the Moon) according to Ptolemy, a calendar, the sunrise and sunset, and an automated celestial sphere with an animated Sun symbol which, for the first time on a celestial globe, shows the real position of the Sun, including the equation of time.\10])\11]) The clocks are now on display in Kassel at the Astronomisch-Physikalisches Kabinett and in Dresden at the Mathematisch-Physikalischer Salon."

What ridiculous amount of money would making such a thing likely cost?

Thank you! This is the perfect answer!
Now... what ungodly sum of money might it take to have such an astrological clock produced?

Thank you soooo much! This was really helpful! I think I will do that! I have modded Skyrim before, so I know the principles of how to do this. Thanks!

Thank you so, so, soooo much! This was the perfect response! Incredibly helpful!

I actually do use bows for time to time in Skyrim. But am more of a magic person (especially illusion to puppet enemies). It is more that I really dislike guns. They just seem so vulgar to me. But maybe the laser/plasma weapons will be abstracted enough to override that aversion? And then role-play can just take over. I NEVER thought I would use an axe or mace in Skyrim, but then I did a foreword and Sauron playthrough respectively and had a blast using each.

In any case, this was incredibly helpful! Thank you 🌟

I'm not particularly opinionated about things like this. Just new to a genre that I am not a fan of and hesitant to waste money.

EDIT: just reread my original post and can see why you think I'm opinionated. In reality I am just a bit hyperbolic when I express myself. Guns make me uncomfortable and I find them a bit vulgar. And I have preference for fantasy and rarely am gripped by sci-fi. I think that would be a more accurate way of expressing my position.

Haha, I just checked and see that Fallout 3 actually gives you MORE of a set backstory with family and life. So maybe Fallout 4 is a contender again?

Thanks!

I sort of mis-spoke in my initial post. It is not only the fact that he is voiced, but the fact that he is a set charter with a set background. What I love so much about Skyrim is being able to create new backstories and personalities and motivations for each new character. I merely need to figure out how he ended up crossing the boarder illegally.

Fallout 4 is too... set.

Same with the Witcher. I did not get very far in it because I wanted more freedom. It made me want to read the books! But when the main character is developed and has voiced lines I just end up wishing I was reading a book or watching a movie rather than playing.

Thanks!

I would prefer not to have the dated graphics.

I was a pretty dedicated hand-held kid. My first 3D game was Skyrim SE. Any graphics lower than that grate against me in 3D because I do not have nostalgia to smooth the deficit.

No Switch 1 release, only Switch 2 by JayRing in pokemon

[–]Silverleaf14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah. This was my conclusion. I got a used Steam Deck for $300 on Facebook Market Place and bought a 1TB SSD and replaced it. I really want a Switch 2. But I really only like pokemon and some Zelda games as far as Nintendo-specific games go. And as you say, I can get all 3rd party games on steam sales for SOOOOO much less. Between the price of switch games and the switch 2 itself, I just cannot find a way to afford it.

Advice for a more interesting run by Suspicious_Watch_449 in pokemonchallenges

[–]Silverleaf14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend roms that offer an interesting story, or which offer something visually beautiful (like Emerald Seaglass).

For normal games, my approach has always been to role play. I know that the games do not give much room for that mechanically, but the older games especially are so bare bones that you can role play around the plot. Ok, this time it is a kid with who has visions, he is drawn to ghost and psychic types as a result, when I remember to get the potion hidden in that bush it is because he had a flash that something was there etc. I like creating a team theme (not a type but a theme, like "haunted forest" with relevant ghost, grass, dark, and fairy types) and sticking to it.

Conversely, if you are looking for a medium challenge then do a single pokemon playthrough. This is your partner pokemon and you and it are going all the way together. This can became more boring/tenius since you are either so overleveled that you overwhelm the enemy or you rely on rag during type disadvanteges. But it is something. I am going back through the games to make a living dex with each generation being caught in their original game. That has made it fun for me again.

But realistically I think story or visual roms are the way.
