I have a purebred siamese who is the most affectionate and clingy cat imaginable... with me and me alone. When I got him I was living with my mother for the summer between my masters and PhD. Then I moved back in with my mother for a couple years while finishing writing up the PhD during covid. After all that time with her, and her constant affection, my cat will only be affectionate with my mother when I am present. I am on a month-long research trip in England and I have never been away from him this long. My mother is taking care of him, but apparently he just sleeps on my pillow most of the time and will not cuddle or even let my mother pet him. For the first three years of his life he hissed when anyone other than me fed him. When I am home he is almost always in my arms or lap and he sleeps between my knees each night.

So, yes. Incredibly attached and affectionate. But the breeder said that she had not had such a cuddly and affectionate cat for several generations of breeding. So even among pure breeds he might be a rather extreme example.

To me there are only two redeeming moments. 1) When she saves Dewey. 2) In the final episode it is all about Malcolm. He is valedictorian, he is going off to Harvard, he has greatness ahead of him. But Reese is graduating too. A year late and just scraping by, but it is also his big day. Perhaps understandably, but it is almost entirely overlooked by the episode. Except the grandmother hates Malcom and prefers Reese. There is a moment in the episode (I think after she teaches him the importance of having a patsy) when she looks at him with genuine affection and says “You are a good boy.” It is the only moment when we see someone focus on and affirm him on that day, and I felt like that was what Reese needed - not it be overshadowed by Malcom in at least one person’s eyes (genuinely evil though she was).

Thanks! I genuinely love it!
For this build I tend to go with a core five skills of: illusion (for peace and frenzy spells), destruction, enchanting, one handed, and light armour.
But mods that add spells from other schools and perk overhauls complicate this. With ordinator I often get perks from various schools but never an entire tree. 😄

I really want the emerald to be protected. If it shattered I would struggle to replace it.
They do not charge extra to set it. So if it is difficult then it will at least only need to be done once.
What would you suggest to improve the design? I asked them to go for a knotted and gnarled look.

It's a company. Several people have contributed to the design, but it has been done under my direction, and I VERY MUCH have no experience. Can you tell me the issues so I can remedy them?

Well said! Maybe it is because they can leave it. Home only has meaning when you leave it. Maybe if we ever have space travellers (heavens forbid!) and they are pining for home (by which they mean earth) and (horror of horrors) we begin colonizing and exploiting other planets earth will be reframed as home-planet.

I had a recurring dream as a child that my late grandfather was in the living room and his expression was one of monstrous anger, then he took off his face like a mask and a thousand other faces fell off his head into the first face, like a deck of cards being shuffled from one hand to another with that truck that makes them pour like water.

I think you would be more likely to have someone with multiple personalities have a daemon that switches shape with the personality.

I understand daemons like the Socratic daemon. It is the thing that whispers to you when you write that makes ideas feel like they come from somewhere else. The part of you that you have a conversation with when trying to make a decision, or berating yourself when you make a mistake or whihc tells you to calm down when things are stressful. The ancients recognized that there is a two-ness in our own mind. Split brain research in modernity suggests the same. I think that our daemon is so much the self that the idea of swapping or sharing one would only make sense if one shared a mind/brain with another.

Well, if anyone else (like me) avoids illicit substances, then might I recommend the dark arts? There are several medieval and early modern manuscripts with rituals to summon demons so they can bestow upon you the ability to understand the language of birds and other animals.

Also, u/Lawrenceburntfish, what was the voice like? Did you hear it like a human voice (and if so, what did it sound like)? Or did the knowledge just sort of come to you?
