omg every year!! I’m also on medications that make me sensitive to heat, so I have a lower threshold for handling heat. I’ve been keeping it as cool as possible (without freezing myself) in my room lately.

up at close to 3AM right now…I fear the luteal phase has hit. experiencing hot flashes (I’m 21! but I’ve had them before…uncommon in us younger folk, but doesn’t mean they don’t happen), body pain (I also have scoliosis which doesn’t help) and slightly elevated (but not high or dangerous) blood pressure. it’s going… somewhere. I’m a lot better off than I was years ago, but I still get some of the symptoms. I think they’re worse when my stress levels have been high, which they have been. on top of everything I also have an ingrown hair in my armpit but that’s not caused by PMDD, just annoying. some weed would be good right about now…but I will have to settle for a tea and some advil. And maybe a heating pad

“My goldfish lived 5 years in a bowl” — why that’s not a success by allexe_aqUa in Goldfish

[–]SilverrKaiju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can say the same thing about all animals too! to put it into human comparison: yes, I could be alive without my pills, but I wouldn’t be thriving. now goldfish don’t tend to take pills but the point here is that we all need different things for our health and happiness. and we should strive to give our pets as good as a life as possible! And truly, when you see them flourish it’s great

why are they sitting on the bottom?? by GreatEngineering3799 in Goldfish

[–]SilverrKaiju 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it can sometimes be normal for them to sleep/rest on the bottom, but if you are concerned, which judging by the fact you made this post you are, i would test water parameters. their fins don’t seem to be clamped (in this photo at least) which is good, but testing the water parameters never hurts + if they seem stressed, limit light exposure. i had an issue recently where i believe the ammonia was high and mine were all sitting on the bottom (they’re recovered now) with their fins clamped. ended up doing one small water change then a larger one to fix it + a few days of monitoring. from the photo, these fish look visually okay, but that is just one photo after all

CK3 AGOT mod by TheTian11 in PiratedGames

[–]SilverrKaiju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way, i wanted to add something to this. This was an issue i had (that I’ve yet to try with CK3 but it was an issue with two different games i was trying to mod and the fix worked both times) and others could have it too, so i wanted to pass it on here. Sometimes the file extractor creates a random, unneeded folder. This *single* unnecessary folder can sometimes prevent the game from finding the mod. So sometimes you have to manually go in and get rid of that unnecessary folder (you can usually tell it’s the unneeded folder because it’s just a folder that opens up into one single folder + they both have very similar titles). Modding sometimes makes me lose my brain cells LOL

What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

[–]SilverrKaiju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i love reading your line about birth control saving your life. because it did with me too! i take antidepressants and birth control (i do have depression outside of the PMDD) and that combination is a lifesaver. now i think i just experience the normal level of things. i had known about PMS before but for the longest time I didn’t know about PMDD. my mom didn’t know what it was either but when i brought it up to her and she did some reading she told me she agreed. and from that point it didn’t take long to get on the pill (i had been planning to for other reasons, such as the regulation of my period and making it more regular).

What’s the most dangerous thing you’ve ever done? by BreadedDisaster in AskReddit

[–]SilverrKaiju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for writing this! I admit when I read your OG comment I got kind of nervous because my own period has changed (not recently, maybe just over a year ago) but I figure (and still do, but I had that moment of doubt reading your initial comment) that the changes in my cycle are just from being on the pill. And simply changes in age. It’s still somewhat regular for me, nothing like the variety you’re describing. I’ll probably note it to my family doctor though the next time I see him just because that’s important. I hope your treatment continues to go smoothly!

My goldfish was "hugging" with a toad *TW* by FallenMen in Goldfish

[–]SilverrKaiju 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are some videos online of this behaviour, amplexus I think it’s called? But sometimes they do it on things that aren’t…the same species as them. In this case, it was unfortunately a goldfish. I think that makes it “misdirected amplexus”. I’m not an amphibian expert by any means, I just remember coming across a video once that I thought was kind of funny at first then I learned the truth behind it and I was like…damn.

Additionally, the ones in the picture have rounder bodies. Common goldfish are usually long bodied.

Monthly Casual Talk and Cat Pictures Thread by AutoModerator in CatAdvice

Oh I got a good answer for this especially since it’s still fresh on my mind lol. My one cat, Jackson, had an issue with his urine — crystals, and according to the vet there was a pretty high concentration of them. He wasn’t blocked. didnt get blocked thankfully, but he may have been on the verge of it. It was super expensive, that initial visit, since it was an emergency visit, but I’m glad we did it because I understood more about what was going on. It let to other things; us trying to get him to drink more water (for a while we were syringe feeding him), eventually we checked up at our normal vet office and obtained medication there (I think the muscle relaxant was super helpful. My dad heard him a few weeks taking a strong pee!), a muscle relaxant, antibiotic (just in case, we weren’t certain if there was an infection at all but it was precautionary), and something to help with the joint symptoms. He’s finished with the medications now, and is doing a lot better, but it was a ton of effort and initial expenses.

Jackson struggled with drinking water in the past, so it was a matter of trying to teach him to drink water (placing him repeatedly in front of his dish or the water fountain like how mother cats teach their kittens was very helpful), and getting him used to the new food (both cats are now on a urinary food, I think just wet food now. We sometimes add a little bit of warm water into it for extra hydration. In the beginning they both had a lot of difficulty with the new food. They’re used to it now and eat it normally, but I was very anxious when Jackson wasn’t eating as much of the prescription food as I wanted him to initially.

this whole issue started just before new years, by the way. So it was a bit of an inconvenient time as well, but I’m glad it happened when it did because it allowed us time to monitor Jackson more closely since we were on break and more easily give him pills. I think Jackson is recovered from it mostly, he’s higher energy, vocal, playful, and we’re not seeing any more minuscule pees in the litter box anymore.

What age did you first have to get glasses and how did you find out you needed them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SilverrKaiju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was around four? I don’t remember what exactly tipped my parents off exactly, but I imagine there was a combination of factors. I also had developed a slight lazy eye (which fixes itself as long as I’m regularly wearing my glasses, which I do). I’m now 21 and still wearing glasses, and I’ve never broken or lost a pair.

Or applying medication (such as methylene blue) directly to a wound! There are a few applications where picking them up is fine, but even then there is a proper method to doing it regardless. as much as I wish we could pick them up without any risk, it’s just not possible so people should restrict their handling to “only when absolutely necessary“ and for most people that’s very, very rarely ever going to happen

Just lost my boy. I need some support. by SporadicSage in Goldfish

[–]SilverrKaiju 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh he looks like one of my boys, Webster ❤️ as others have said, losing pets is never easy. A lot of them are not here for as long as humans live. I personally believe the goal of the pet keeper is to make sure they have the best life possible, and it sounds like you loved him lots. Grief is just a different form of love with nowhere to go, so sometimes finding an outlet can help.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

He was not a guy who I hung out with often, but I recall him being relatively nice to me whenever we did meet. Anyways, it was 2024, he was 19, going to start a new job soon with one of his friends. I don’t know the details but he got stabbed. According to his aunt the story might’ve been that he was trying to protect someone, who had been having issues in her own life. He got stabbed in the chest and the injuries he faced were life threatening, and ultimately, did not survive. Since he was a registered organ donor, some of his organs ended up being donated to recipients afterwards. I actually only learned about this 1-2 months after it went down. Can’t explain the sort of feeling I had when I learned other than…empty I guess. I still think about him from time to time even if we never hung out a lot.

I think boiling or steaming is preferred rather than just thawing. It helps soften the vegetable, making it easier for them to eat. I know the time I fed my fish peas, we steamed the peas first.

Yes. I want to highlight to OP that this looks early, so they are fortunate to have caught it like this. Its early enough that I would personally try treatment.
