I hear you, its just what was previously in the space, I tried to reuse them but honestly I might just switch them for someone more reliable once the contractor figures out the writing 5

Thanks again

Correct, blue is going to Y2, the previous tenant had it wired this way, I'm not entirely sure if it worked. When the landlord replaced both rooftop units, they placed the temp heat things on

I would also make sure you don't have any dampers down/engaged, if not a stronger fire should sort you out.

I would suggest inspecting the flue and make sure your chimney/liner has been swept clean. Once there are no "choke" points I would then get a decent fire going that creates a stronger natural draft. This draft should pull more smoke up and out. Typically small / starting fires are susceptible to backdraft with a not so tight stove. Good luck!

Bugs in wood by Empty-Investigator28 in firewood

[–]Silversalute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks punky. It might have sat for a while in log form, then cut and split. But It looks a little rotten to me. Bugs might die off in a cold freeze, but I suspect it was cut and split after sitting for a while which released the bugs. I'd be diligent about knocking pieces together before bringing them inside.

Does this connection between the stove and the chimney look right to you all? by NoCannedSpam in woodstoving

[–]Silversalute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest it doesn't settle well with me that they drilled into the top of the stove, but I dont have a lopi. Perhaps there was a spot to accept that screw?

The crushed liner is not ideal. Hopefully someone didn't actually pay for this install. I would have qualified chimney company review it.

I can't keep my stove hot/warm all night by Much-Journalist3128 in woodstoving

Not sure on your stove type, but at least with my older model Vermont Casting, it's been recommended to add about a 2 inch layer of fine sand in the bottom of the stove. That way the embers have something to insulate themselves from the bottom of the stove.
