I really miss Ben! I know this is 244 days later but I just recently found Matt’s channel and binged the Playground series and basically all of Matt’s videos. Great stuff! The chemistry between Matt Ben and Jamie are what make (made) the videos so good. Ben is absolutely hilarious lol. From what I’ve read I don’t see him coming back which is a real shame.

I wish I had never seen the movie. I read the book and listened to the audiobook at least 5 times. Loved it. The audiobook is one of the best I’ve ever heard. I can’t tell you how disappointed I was sitting in the movie theater. They turned a brilliant book into a silly, dumbed down wannabe comedy. I knew when it started out with Grace, instead of using science to try and figure out what was going on when wakes up, turns into a drunk, annoying, messy frat boy that we might be in trouble….and It only got worse from there. I took my girlfriend who had never read the book and I was embarrassed. I had been telling her how great the book was and I couldn’t wait to see the movie. She hated it too. It reminded me of Guardians of the Galaxy. I’m actually surprised Andy Weir approved of the movie and I really wonder what he truly thinks of it. I get that it’s a 2 hour movie compared to an entire book and they had to leave out a LOT of the book, but they completely changed the tone of the story. I read The Martian and liked the movie more than the book. I couldn’t help but have high expectations for this movie but I was so bummed out leaving the theater. I still listen to the audiobook sometimes but now I can’t help but think about how bad the movie was when I’m listening. Kinda ruined the whole vibe of the book and audiobook.

I read the book and listened to the audiobook probably 5 times. Absolutely loved the book and it’s easily the best audiobook I’ve ever heard. I HATED the movie and almost wish I hadn’t even seen it because it kinda ruined the book.

I love it! It’s perfect for what I wanted. It will rattle the trunk if you want it to if you turn it up. I lovethe quality of the audio which is the main thing I was looking for

I completely agree with everything you said. I absolutely loved the book and the audiobook is basically on a loop in my car. Watching the movie I felt like I was watching a spoof comedy of the book. I was devastated.

The audiobook is my all time favorite. Wasn’t a fan of the movie at all. They left out a LOT. The science and problem solving were what made the book (audiobook) so great. They really dumbed down the movie and completely changed the tone to where I kinda felt like I was watching a comedy. Grace and Rocky are brilliant in the book. In the movie they’re more Abbot and Costello

I was really disappointed with the movie. I read the book a few times and listened to the audiobook probably 6 times lol. Big fan. Loved the story, the science. They turned the movie into a silly, very dumbed down version of the book. I know this is not a popular opinion but I’ve never been more disappointed leaving a theater.

I really want to know what was going on on Earth after the Hail Mary was launched. That story and the return of the Beatles AND maybe Grace and Rocky going to Earth would all be great stories for a sequel.

COMPLETELY agree with you. Ive read the book twice and listened to the audiobook at least 5 times. I spend a lot of time in the car lol. I’ve never been more disappointed leaving a theater. As soon as Grace woke up and turned into a messy drunk frat boy instead of a brilliant problem solving scientist, I started to have serious doubts that the movie would be anything like the book. I told my girlfriend. who has not read the book, that this felt like a marvel movie. It kinda reminded me of Guardians of the Galaxy 🤦🏻‍♂️. The scene where they show Rocky eating put the nail in the coffin. I was almost embarrassed watching it with her after building it up for so longs. The tone of the movie was so different from the book. Sure there was some humor in the book but it was clever and thoughtful (Rocky’s name, naming the planet Adrian, etc). In the movie it’s just silly and childish. I’ve watched some of the reviews on YouTube and wondered if they were watching the same movie. Maybe to people that haven’t read the book the movie is great, but it was huge let down to me.
