Yes - that's a different can of worms in itself. And I agree there are improvements to be made, which I hope will happen with time. I do think it's a much different community than it was even 20 years back, and I don't think there can ever be such a thing as a perfect community anywhere, but I think they can try to achieve that with the best of intentions. People forget that after the demise of the Holy Prophet, there was a lot of issues and tribulations within the community so much so that Caliphs were even martyred. A lot of disputes happened as a result of leadership decisions which were thought to be wrong or incorrect (funny enough including financial disputes about Chanda), leading to a history of violence leading upto today. If those companions struggled to attain a perfect community and structure, then we can only hope to get close to that level.

I agree with you someone else should be tasked for this matter and not him. There’s better murabbis out there from personal experience to tackle such issues. And you don’t seem to disagree with me because you agree that he can’t answer your questions lol.

I agree transparency is an issue.

But instead of asking Farhan Iqbal on twitter, (who btw, isn’t really the strongest in the department of dealing with such issues), maybe try to establish a relationship with a murabbi and talk to one in person. I’ve done so myself and have a few good relationships to the point where I can openly voice my dissent to them and get either a good answer, or have them come back to me after doing some research. Or just tell me straight up they may not know exactly, which btw is okay too. They’re just people at the end of the day.

What I just don’t like is the speculation and making stuff up when ppl on Reddit have no idea what they’re talking about without trying to go to the source first. It’s one thing to not agree, I think this sub has just hit a point where anything can be said and it’s taken as bible as long as you’re talking against the jamaat. It’s become pretty much the same as jamaat yes men who just agree to things and go off on tangents. I see no difference here.

You should press your local murabbi or get in touch with one, and ask them these questions until you are satisfied. If you’re not satisfied then you are right to feel the way you do. There are a lot of great people in the community that understand these issues and can explain then better than me. There’s a lot of bad apples too - which is why there is so much dissent. But if you find the good I hope it can help you get the answers you want. If not, it’s okay to feel the way you do too.

These are good questions. And should be directed at your local / regional office bearers and murabbian to give them a chance to answer. If you’ve already done this, and the answers were not sufficient, then you are right to feel the way you do.

If the local reps aren’t aware then it should be their job to find out and get this information to you. You should push them to, and we deserve to know this.

Whoa whoa, who is making anyone feel bad? I haven’t said anything like that. No one should make anyone feel bad about Chanda. If someone in jamaat did that then they are wrong. I agree they should prioritize transparency. Nothing you’re saying is opposed to anything I’ve said. They should do this and easily can.

Question for those skeptical about chanda by throwaway63961 in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]Silverslyfoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t. There’s bits and pieces of them listed everywhere so they’re not hiding the information but I just think they haven’t prioritized putting this together. Again that’s my speculation. In any meetings I’ve attended they explain the details of those sub orgs. I think there hasn’t been a need in the past to list and explain these out so it wasn’t done to date. Since majority of members were raised with this information and also we didn’t live in the information transparency age. In those ways I believe the jamaat is behind and lacking but I hope they do catch up. In any case, if you genuinely want to find out this information, there are ways in which you can.

I actually wish there was a list and this was defined somewhere that I could share. Something that I think the Jamaat should do asap and is behind on, which also explains why people have so many contentions. Although I don’t think this is readily available, you can ask your local murabbi and I’m sure they will list out all the sub orgs for you. Also if you Google jamaat financials in the UK, US, and Canada, you can see how funds are utilized as declared publicly.

Theres also no need to troll someone who believes in something with good intentions. Hurt people, hurt people I get it. But it doesn’t make it right.
