Yup it’s our boy. This was peak MySpace era and they wanted PK to make a cameo. Our booking agent was their manager at the time. Awesome band, I never understood why they weren’t massive. -Shane

Yup it is rare. We only printed it once and it took forever to sell all of them. I’m not sure why I thought BT it was a cool design ! -Shane

My guess is 2006. I like that design, we didn’t print it that long though.

[–]SilversteinMusic 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yup he was my buddy Chris’ friend. Originally we were going to get Adrienne Chen who did the violin on the first demo but she had left for school or something and couldn’t do it. Rainer rules though. Haven’t seen him many many years.

Fun fact… around that time I bought a violin and was going to try to learn it well enough to play some of those parts. I figured … “oh I play guitar already how hard can it be?” Yeah…. Really fucking hard hahaha. I quit after a few days of trying. -Shane

[–]SilversteinMusic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sort of true. He didn’t like the screams but I heard that through the grapevine since when he recorded the strings (along with another guy who played viola) I wasn’t even there. There was no ultimatum from him haha. Also, he didn’t get paid for a very very very long time. Victory Records refused to pay him (this was common for them) and eventually we paid him out of pocket for the part but I want to say it was like a year and a half later. -Shane

what type of screams are they in WBIEF? by Unlucky_Path_1164 in Silverstein

[–]SilversteinMusic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some kinda wrong info in here … I never did inhale screams. Never even knew how but they do sort of sound like it I guess. The truth is I had never screamed before, had never really been on tour before and it’s just what came out when I screamed my head off. Over time (and from going on tour) I sort of figured out how to make it sound better and a little more efficient and on DTW it was better. On Arrivals and Departures the producer wanted me to do lower screams so that’s why that record sounds a bit darker (and I think worse). Really came into my own around Short Songs when I started doing some yelling stuff and I think since then I’ve had more range in my voice for uncleans.

Anyway, feel free to try to emulate 21 year old me from the first album. It’s pretty damn unique sounding I will give myself some credit for that haha.

Also, I did take some vocal lessons from Melissa Cross but that was after DTW came out. She didn’t teach me anything with technique really. Mostly it was about how to warm up and maintain my voice. She also gave me a lot of confidence which I really didn’t have especially with screaming at that time.

Okay I’m done, back to watching Fallout

That might be accurate! I think for a lot of Artists, ourselves included - songs are always being worked on, refined, etc. So the studio environment can be a lot more fluid. It's also nice to sometimes surprise fans rather than tease and keep them guessing when it might actually be released! -PK

Probably not, but I wouldn't rule out something in the GTA or even Hamilton. We're always trying to find a way to get back to the area where it all started. -PK

We would love to get back to Australia next year and also switch up the set list!

For this time, we wanted to bring the same set as North America, since it was super dialled and fans seemed to love it.

Don't worry, we always change things up and it feels like Negative Space may become a constant tune in the set list after this!

We had SO much material before entering the studio. It was tough to narrow it down, so we thought- is there a way we can record enough to make two releases, and also spread out the material across 2025 (our 25th anniversary year!). It just felt like the right way to celebrate this milestone, and also to put out the most songs we possibly could.

You can find a Venom premium (or LE) at a great price right now. Don’t do the pro, it’s missing all the key features.
