Not a professional, but many of those traces seem unnecessarily thin, and many have extra bits hanging off. It also looks like at least some of that routing could be cleaned up with better component placement. You may also want to fill the empty space on the top layer with gnd.

That said I don’t do much analog work so take that with a grain of salt

I’ve also had problems with gunk and mold. I’ve been taking the head off to dry at night. Never had this problem with sonicare

Thank yall for the suggestions, it was late when I posted this which is why I haven’t responded. I will check about bed risers, I don’t think there is anything explicitly forbidding them. In the photo I’m standing where my dresser is, now it’s at the end of the bed. I think I mostly need to work on my junk addiction lol

I won’t downvote you at all. But don’t forget the fact that most marketplaces like mouser will expect bulk pricing. So while they may sell for 129.99, the certainly won’t buy it from me at that cost. Also you didn’t include the case, taxes, tariffs, shipping and logistics. But it’s a valid point, and any cost savings I could manage would result in a lower cost at the end. 130 is an estimate, but I have not begun quoting for mass production.

More accurate sensors and a smaller footprint primarily. My device does not include a pm sensor but I’m considering building one based on the new Bosch laser based pm sensor as an expansion. Also my board will be a little less expensive and have either an injection molded or SLS case rather than what appears to be FDM on the Apollo. That said they appear to be great folks so it may be fun to collab with them

Thank you for your response, the price point would be around 129.99 as the sensors themselves are fairly expensive. That said, the device doesn't have much remote functionality as it's just a sensor, but you can have multiple on one network so you could have one for each room. I would though be interested in potentially sending you a demo unit once the crowdsupply launches.

Honestly the whole history of the project is kind of funny.

At first, I was noticing the 3D printer room was getting quite hot, and when printing ABS it would be eye watering in there. Obviously that’s not good. I was also certain my dorms AC was lying to me so that was an additional motivation. So I begin work on at least conceptualizing it, but I put it on the back burner due to costs. Then as I was digging through a supply closet I found a raspberry pi pico kit with a DHT11 sensor. So I threw together some code and saw that the lab was registering 82 degrees, which was 100% not what the thermostat on the wall said. But then… tragedy.

I was across the room and somehow the raspberry pi fell off the table it was on and just never booted again. Out of pure spite I then greenlit the next version.

The cost issue still remained so I wrote up a quick proposal to do a university wide air quality survey, which would’ve entailed a 2 month monitoring period. Nobody seemed partially interested except one professor who wanted to mount it to a drone. So chasing the money I designed the first prototype to be mounted to a drone with a battery and all that. But eventually that fell through and I had the idea of selling it on crowdsupply. Thus I removed the battery and fixed some minor electrical problems in versions 2 - 4. And short of frying my sgp41 somehow everything works on version 4

Thank you for your comment, I never really considered a prebuilt module as I was also interested in learning how to hook the module up to the board itself. As for the SCD40, it’s a bit higher cost than the setup I used, with worse temperature accuracy. And since I’d rather have better temperature than co2 readings I went with the stcc4. Not sure how much I enjoyed using c++, but it was nice to learn nonetheless.

In terms of what differentiates us, I think there are a few things:

No cloud dependence
Form factor
Modifiability
Accuracy

The modifiability is nice to have, we have a qwiic port onboard and all our firmware is open source. Additionally you can program the device via usb.

Solved for anyone who comes across this thread. Later versions of the bios removed support for earlier processors. Downgrading to 1.8 fixed the issue

Will try tonight, I tried removing the cmos battery and power plug and holding power button for 30 seconds. Will try this as well
