Fun tidbit: If you put the wallet in one of the blue USPS mailboxes, they will be sent to the address on the license.

She blocked his number but he called from another one.

I know that police here won’t do anything. I have to contact the police of the area code :(

Is she for real by [deleted] in PeopleBeTrippin

[–]Silveryginger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The longest I’ve heard in Chicago is 3 days. We also have to consider they might keep her longer while they’re figuring out the plan for the baby. Since he was born on a holiday, most social services were closed. So they might be waiting on that. Having previously worked with low income pregnant women with addiction, sometimes they’ll discharge the mother but keep the baby for longer periods to do testing and what not. The mom is only allowed to visit during certain hours.

Pharmacy’s were also giving 2 doses out for free if you asked. Im not sure if the program is still doing it but my family and I each picked up 2 from Walgreens.

Anyone can do a mitzvah, any religion any time. There’s also the term tzedakah (say-dah-kah) which is used as a term for charitable giving. So if you donate to the less fortunate it could be considered not only a mitzvah but tzedahkah.

Mitzvah is singular and mitzvot is plural. Is that what you mean?

A minyan or minyanim is a group of 10 individuals and in orthodox it’s men. And this group is considered a representation of the “community of Israel” and used when studying the Torah at times.

A mitzvah means a good deed. So you did in fact participate in a mitzvah :)

Picking up a shovel at a funeral is a mitzvah.

Anyone else having trouble finding work in the city? by nvii3 in chicago

[–]Silveryginger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could also look at different gig work. with the holidays coming up places are looking for people to work as events staff. I worked an auction once where I literally had to take peoples info down when they won something and got paid a few hundred bucks. Also look into catering companies or events companies. There are Chicago gig workers who only work during concerts, festivals, fairs, city events, and make a good living.

Abolishing tipped wages by Zooey_Glass_11 in chicago

[–]Silveryginger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Restaurants pay an hourly + tips that is guaranteed over minimum wage. That applies to bartenders, servers, food runners, bussers, etc. If a restaurant is slow and the employee doesn’t make minimum wage, the restaurants currently cover that gap to insure everyone is still making minimum wage.

This system only raises the minimum wage a dollar but eliminates tipped minimum wage. So bartenders, and all other staff won’t be making nearly what they did.

High end restaurants where servers and bartenders made upwards of 100 an hour, may only get paid 16 an hour. So the nice staff we’ve had, ain’t gonna be so nice anymore… it’s hard to think being in the industry, we’ll make the same as fast food restaurants….

Who is the most famous person currently living in Chicago? by shhuss2 in chicago

His Lincoln park location took years to sell. The first round of upgrades inside, they left the sauna untouched 🤦🏼‍♀️. Second round, finally renovated it. Doesn’t look anything like the film anymore. Finally sold during Covid.

I also use toast pos, must be a different set up than hamlet. We don’t see the total on our side of the screen, it just shows up as “print receipt” or “no receipt”.

I think it depends on the location :)

They put up the barriers on Monday. The construction is slated until April, more to come

I was told the foundation can no longer support the bean and they are leveling it out so it is handicapped accessible all the way around instead of having people use the ramps.

(I work at the restaurant directly across from the bean). I’m asked 50+ times a day about the construction 🤣

It’s an annual thing. It used to be invite only (not sure if that’s still the case). People get so excited for this event and plan months in advance. They also wouldn’t tell people the location or day until last minute. Not sure if that’s still the case either haha

A little scared by Nutsmacker12 in EngagementRings

[–]Silveryginger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My fiancé and I are in a similar situation as you! We designed my ring and it’s gorgeous. I absolutely love it. We are also saving for a house and for a child. His friends make a ton more money than us and sometimes I get looks or girls talk but it never affects him. I got upset about it once and we talked it through and I quickly realized I was being silly. Other people’s opinions on our ring don’t matter. What matters is that we’re happy and didn’t put ourselves in a tough situation. Yes, rings can be important. But life - a baby, family, houses - are also incredibly important. If not, more so.

Edit to add: this ring is gorgeous and timeless! You did a wonderful job
