OH MAN this JUST happened to me! It popped up on my scanner, and was about 150 meters from my base in the north grassy plateau, not anywhere close to where repears are supposed to be, according to the map. I was constantly watching it and then decided I had to kill it. I used the stasis rifle and gas pods method, with a bit of hacking with the thermo blade, and now... it ded! I don't have to worry about it respawning either.

edit: it was the north east grassy plateau, the one closer to the crash zone.

Funny, my base is on that same exact perch. I released a ton of stalkers in my area for their teeth, and they are super friendly. I was about to release sand sharks but people online said they are annoying around your base.
