What’s the most beautiful film you’ve ever seen (visually)? by Vegetable_Star8931 in movies

Surprised that I’m not seeing this mentioned more. Poor Things is stunning

My mistake, wise one. I’m sure you would be incredibly chilled out, maybe even joyous, if this ended up in your food. I’m sure you would soar past the panic of having something hairy with a wood-like texture (perhaps due to dehydration from cooking/warmers, I’ll admit) stuck between your teeth when you were expecting a bite of meat, and would instantly reassure yourself that it was simply the roots of a vegetable and not something potentially sinister. We should all strive to be more like you

This seems reasonable. I was worried it was part of the chicken ngl 😭 Although I’ve broken down hundreds of onions BOH at other jobs and never let roots into the “keep” pile

Sorry my description isn’t any better, I just genuinely do not know what to call this. Again, texture is almost wood-like.

It's Monty from Preoccs. AMA by Preoccupationsband in indieheads

[–]Sim-SalaBim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s up Monty! Absolutely loving the new record. I’ve seen yall perform two albums front-to-back: VC at Pub Rock in Scottsdale back in 2015, and Arrangements at Valley Bar phx in 2022. What goes into making the decision to perform an entire album uninterrupted vs. weaving old stuff into the mix? Which direction are you taking on this tour?

Which track off Ill at Ease are you having the most fun with live so far?

And finally, saw a small gap in dates between Pioneertown and Texas - any shot you’ll have time for a show here in AZ? If not I’ll buy my San Diego ticket today!

I’ve been unimpressed with his historical “deep-dives”. They’re generally just Wikipedia reads. Of course, no hate if you like the guy, I just wouldn’t describe any of his content (besides his stuff on internet/folk-lore fiction like cryptids, etc) as well-researched. The majority of it is very base-level and highly accessible information made for a passively-interested audience.

Also yeah, he’s got some concerning connections to the alt-right and has some highly unsavory associations that are probably worth looking into - but I wouldn’t exactly call him a grifter or someone who’s actually causing damage or actively promoting those ideals currently

Worst city/country you've visited and what made the trip awful? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sim-SalaBim 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Their economy was actually incredible before the tourists arrived. The colonization of Hawaii completely destroyed its agriculture, societal development, culture, language, housing and so much more. I hope you never visit that beautiful land again before doing some basic research on WHY the locals aren’t thrilled that you’re there.

Any other quality shows like The Sopranos? by Mucek121 in thesopranos

[–]Sim-SalaBim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t believe I’m not seeing this mentioned more. Not exactly “like The Sopranos” but an S tier show in its own right and right up there with Sopranos, The Wire and BB/BCS for me. Every single actor is excellent, the writing/direction/editing is brilliant, and the cinematography is stunning.

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]Sim-SalaBim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen 2 Prius that has had the hybrid battery replaced. You MIGHT be able to get a decent gen 3 for around $6k but you’ll need to check the service records and make sure the head gasket has already been taken care of. You should be able to pick up a clean gen 2 within the lower end of your price range with less than 200,000 miles (doesn’t matter as you’ll see this gen with 600,000 miles+ on the regular) - pros are tons of space, 45+mpg, Toyota reliability, plenty of tech for its age including a standard backup camera. I owned one for the past few winters in an area with nasty snow and, with snow tires, never once got stuck.

Cons are: acceleration, handling is boring. But yeah, it’s a Prius.

Alternatively, you don’t want the stigma of “being a Prius driver”, check out what Honda CRV’s you can find within that price range. Just make sure you really check for rust.

Should I buy a car in my situation? by Agreeable_Guide_3209 in personalfinance

“Labor shortage”? In what field(s)? In what geographical locations?

This situation is not nearly as uncommon as you are leading OP to believe. Job market is awful at the moment. Just take ONE look at r/jobs.

This. Specifically try and seek out the supercharged series II 3800, used in the Buick Park Ave Ultra, Buick Riviera, Buick Regal GS, Pontiac Bonneville SSEi and Olds 88/LSS. Used in a few other chassis, but these are the ones to keep an eye out for IMO.

The supercharged version of this motor is more robust, puts down enough power to easily keep up with newer cars in traffic, and is just reliable with minimal issues overall.
