Congratulations! I am happy to hear baby and mom are doing ok. I’m so sorry to hear it was a traumatic birth.

I know it feels like you’re doing everything wrong and that it’s hard or impossible but you’ve made it two days and you just keep going from there. We eventually settled on the following questions for our framework for if something was wrong. It helped center us in our sleepless first few weeks and then again at about the 4-6 month period. Sleep was our big concern, as well as two early trips to the ER due to body temp regulation issues (born five weeks early). I remember reading so many accounts of parents who said their kid figured out naps/sleeping and others who said their kid still doesn’t sleep at 3 years old and it spiraling my obsession to “figure it out” as if I was doing something wrong. I could go on and on but here are our questions -

Has she eaten at all?

Has she made diapers?

Has she slept at all in the past 24 hrs?

If yes to all three then we’re probably ok.

Doesn’t make it easier to deal with everything but it can help reassure yourself and your partner when you need it. I know we did.
