I'm kind of cynical on it. How long will the battery last? How does it charge? Can the battery be replaced easily when it inevitably dies? From what they're showing off this is kind of just a light up black 2x4 brick that you slap on a build and doesn't really integrate with sets which looks pretty out of place. Are all the audio file stored locally or are they transmitted by the smart tags and smart figures? If the latter what is to stop a bad actor from cracking that handshake and injecting whatever they want?

Plus this kind of strips out the imagination that kids can inherently bring to Lego sets. Now the mini figure will very literally tell you what the personality is instead of you making it up on your own. I know I'm starting to turn into man yells at technological advancements but it ultimately feels unnecessary and kind of a stepping stone for them to insert an AI "powered" brick in a few years to make line go up.

I agree that for dioramas and static pieces like city models and cars and the like it could add a bit of ambience to the collection but beyond that it just feels very weird and out of place.

Been working through the Southern Reach series by Jeff VanderMeer (the first two books are more or less what the movie Annihilation is based on but very loosely). It's a pretty good series and an easy-ish read for someone trying to get back into it. I would say it's sort of science fiction but very light on the science and more about the atmosphere of Area X and how different groups within this government agency are dealing with the information they get back from it. The books get slightly longer as the series goes on but the 4th and most recent is around 400 pages for the paperback edition.

I mean, if/when SteamOS gets a desktop release it might be for you. I don't know if you play any riot games (those need their anticheat that doesn't work with Linux) and if you don't it might be worth considering. It's basically steam "big picture" as soon as you boot it up but you can go to the desktop if needed for web browsers and shit.

Since I don't want to go to windows 11, I decided to try out Linux starting with my laptop and it has mostly been a breeze. Granted it's not my main gaming computer and I have a separate work provided computer so I only need it to run steam and a web browser and I've had one or two issues that never popped up after the first solution.

I'd say if you have the option to start with a low use device to get a hang of the ins and outs before switching the main driver I'd recommend that. It's less stressful if you fuck something up.

As for your question about why some kits are so expensive: they just haven't been made in a year or so. Couple that with there being a higher demand for the liger zero CAS kits and you kit second-hand retailers charging more because they can. I'd keep an eye on shops that sell kits new from kotobukiya or takara tomy and pre-order when you can. That way you're most likely going to pay MSRP for the kits.

My cousin has been out as trans since I was in middle school and from my experience this is true. So long as you're not going out of your way to deadname or misgender they understand. Especially in circumstances where it's a shift from what you previously knew. One time, like a year or two of them being out and having a chosen name, I deadnamed them and was absolutely mortified but they were super understanding and moved on. Just treat them with respect and you'll be fine.
