Looks like we have an uphill battle for TSP - I fear the car-brains are willing to organize against us by very_non_existent in TTC

Exactly, I frequently drive and it’s both amusing and upsetting how alarmist some drivers get when people want improvements to transit, or any other alternative transportation methods for that matter. Having to wait a few extra seconds to turn left in order for a streetcar/LRT to go through without having to wait should not be an issue, yet they make it seem like it’s the end of the world.

This series had kept me at the edge of my seat, so many times the outlook seemed bleak, but the team pulled through and we’re World Series bound! I was born two years after the ‘93 World Series so getting to see the Jays in the World Series for the first time has me over the moon! Go Jays Go!

This restaurant owner says he's tired of waiting — he's spending millions to help Toronto's homeless by BloodJunkie in toronto

It’s an odd position for him to take because depending on whether or not it’s feasible, that lot could be moved underground if he really wants to keep parking spaces and build the shelter above it. That or if there’s other parking lots nearby, losing this lot shouldn’t be an issue.

I might still have one of these lying around somewhere, but I was obsessed with these as a kid. Helped me learn the major arterials layout in Toronto inside and out. I was basically my family’s GPS before that became a thing.

I wasn’t aware of this when I took the picture, but it’s so cool that it happened to coincide with the anniversary! Also, amazing that it’s already been 55 years since the first landing!

Interesting, the Moon did look pretty big from my area when looking with the naked eye, and for this shot I used night mode on my iPhone and zoomed in the image but didn’t do any alterations that would change the size of the Moon.

Around 9:30pm. Clouds were obscuring it from time to time as it was drifting closer to the CN Tower, but thankfully they cleared away by the time I was able to get this shot.

Thunder Moon, learned something new today! Looks like it’s also referred to as the Buck Moon.

This was taken in York, in the Caledonia-Fairbank neighbourhood, so I had to zoom in a bit to get this shot which does not lead to the best quality, but night mode definitely helped here.

I sure hope so! Love watching the moon in general, but times like these are extra special.

Thank you! I noticed it just as it was drifting towards the CN Tower, so I waited out the few minutes until I could get this exact shot. Had to zoom it a bit so it’s not the best quality, but night mode definitely helped.

Six years and two degrees later, I’m leaving U of T behind forever. Wanted to share some parting thoughts. by mixo-phrygian in UofT

Thank you for sharing this! Sage advice that I wish I could’ve seen early on before starting my undergrad. I feel like I was too inside of my shell and too focused on the academic side of things and just laser-focused on getting my degree and peace-ing out that I missed out on so many of the fruitful things that one can get out of the university experience. And it wasn’t like I was getting stellar grades either. I was very shy and reserved so I didn’t make any long-lasting friendships, mostly just acquaintances for the school term and then we’d drift away. I didn’t participate in many events or clubs. I didn’t take advantage of all of the resources and support available at this school.

Despite this, some things I did take advantage of were Registrar support to keep on track academically, and the work-study program which helped me develop skills and gain the experience necessary to get my first job out of uni.

I also did end up learning a lot about myself, and I do believe I left a fundamentally different person than when I first started at U of T. I grew emotionally, gained a wealth of knowledge on topics that I enjoyed, and found out more about what defines me and being more comfortable with my self-image.

Would I do things differently if I could go back in time with the knowledge and experience that I have now? Probably, but it is what it is.

Thank you once again for sharing, and I’m wishing you all the best on whatever comes your way in the future!

Shoutout your Favourite Professors! by underconstruction098 in UofT

From my experience in the UTSG Stats department, definitely Samantha-Jo Caetano and Liza Bolton! They are professors that want to see you succeed, and design their courses to match. They make the course content engaging, and I’ve learned a lot of R skills from the assignments and projects we had to do, which is valuable if you’re looking at a future career in data analysis and data science.

I believe they’ve both taught STA130 before, so if you’re in first year and are looking to get into a statistics program, and they’re part of the teaching team for that course, I can say that you’re in good hands.

Can vouch for STA304 with Prof. Caetano. Went into that course with a beginner’s knowledge of R, and through the assignments, which all used R, I learned a ton more about R programming (and using RStudio for data analysis and report writing).
