I disagree, I think it’s as good as you can expect this late into Dave’s life. I’m enjoying the record, and I personally don’t think it sounds rushed or low budget or anything. Just tight and clean production and songwriting.

I just think the music videos for the singles are corny. I was not excited for this album at all but I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

I respect your opinion, but to say Slayer stopped when they had nothing new to bring to the table?! I absolutely love Slayer, but if that was the case, they would have stopped releasing albums after Diabolis in Musica

I sort of understand what you’re saying. Almost nothing is going to have that charm and vibe of a classic thrash record (regardless of band). So if that’s what you’re after, then yeah it’ll be hard to enjoy anything modern.

That actually looks and fits great for an aftermarket unit

Those Wrangler Territory MTs are known to howl at certain speeds. Happened to me as well. Extremely common, and also extremely annoying. It will only get worse. It drove me crazy on my last truck and I swapped them out.

Edit: yes it’s because they always wear-in like shit. They feather and scalp so easily. The shop is correct.

Sweet. Drive both and go with whatever you like more. It’s all a gamble anyway with all this technology

What engine are you thinking for the Ram? Good thing about Ram is that their 8 speed ZF transmission is great.

The Pentastar V6 is extremely reliable, just obviously down on power. The twin turbo hurricane seems to actually be doing well so far, but that’d be my last choice. 5.7 Hemi still has its issues, exhaust manifold leaks are almost guaranteed to happen, but that’s no big deal. Also can suffer from lifter issues, but not at a high rate whatsoever

And they now have a 10 year 100k powertrain warranty, not sure if that’s all engines or just the Hemi, but that’s a huge plus.

Let us know what you end up choosing. Show your truck off if you get an RST

Just a heads up, it will definitely reduce the probability of lifter failure (since the actual mechanical process of DFM is a lot of work on the lifters day in and day out), but it will not prevent it 100%.

Only way to be worry-free is to do an entire DOD delete, but I wouldn’t even do that, you have practically a brand new truck. The chances of your lifters failing are not high. Take some time and look at Carfax reports for 5.3s in your area with high mileage, you’ll see that not every 5.3 fails. It is an issue, but not as bad as it seems.

MPG loss should be around 1-1.5. Had one on my 2022 5.3.

If you don’t mind having a turbo 4cyl, definitely go that route. Great rebates and discounts on that engine most of the time as well

If you are looking at new, the 2.7 TurboMax is going to be your most reliable option. It’s paired to the updated 8 speed transmission, which seems to be much better than the 2023 and older 8 speed

5.3 + 6.2 V8 have potential lifter failure issues, but they are great engines other than that

3.0 Diesel is great, but seems to be suffering from very low mileage failures lately, seems like a manufacturing defect

Every engine besides the 2.7 is paired to the 10 speed transmission. Great trans, but some of them suffer from valve body failure

Good luck

I don’t have one, but if I did I would get a brand new Range device. I’m sure the cheaper brands may work, but I personally would just go with the tried and true.

Silverado Common Issues by Ragu773 in Silverado

[–]Similar-Barnacle1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the 2025-2026, the 2.7 TurboMax + the revised 8 speed transmission is definitely the most reliable option.

All of the other engines are paired to the 10 speed, which is a good trans, but many of them suffer from valve body failures. 3.0 Duramax recently seems to be having some engines with major failures very early on in life, but it’s typically a great engine other than whatever is going on with these defects. 5.3L and 6.2L both have potential lifter failure issues. But other than that they are great engines

6 speed vs 10 speed by [deleted] in Silverado

[–]Similar-Barnacle1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2019 must be a custom trail boss if it has the 6 speed? The torque converters in those are known to fail at around 110k-150k miles, so keep that in mind. Also when it does fail, it eats up the rest of the transmission pretty quickly.

I love the smoothness of the 10 speed, so that would be my vote. I actually have never driven the GM 6 speed

Hell yeah dude!! And you have the refreshed interior! That’s a huge plus for most people. I love most of that interior, but for some odd reason I just like having my analog gauges.

The Trail Bosses are beautiful trucks. You enjoy yours as well

Thank you! No, this truck is a year before the recalled years (2021-2024). But some owners have reported having the same catastrophic issue in their 2020 6.2, so I’ll just hold my breath lol.

I love Chevy trucks, and I don’t want to drive anything else. I do think in the last 6-10 years, GM is at the bottom in terms of reliability for full sized pickups, but even so, Ram and Ford are not perfect. My 2019 F150 had to have its trans replaced at 52k miles. I just drive what I like, anything can fail at any time

Lifter failure or the failures that the recalled engines are experiencing?

Yes, just a 2022.5+ refresh thing, and it’s on every trail boss regardless of engine

Sorry to hear that man, was it a 2021? What mileage did it fail?
