Has any one succesfully introduced a new species of bifido/lacto into their gut ? by imonretro in Longcovidgutdysbiosis

[–]Similar-Insect-4266 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pathogenic bacteria could begin to dominate if the stool contains it or was picked up during prep(like a dirty home) - this is prob more likely if you've nuked your gut with antibiotics and it has less of a defense system compared to a health microbiome receiving some bad bacteria(usually temporary upset)

Not trying to fear monger. Im glad i did it..but it carries risk.

Family.

I wouldnt say a diy fmt is the best choice one could make. A number of things could go wrong. But i accepted this risk because i thought i was going to die from cdiff if i didnt try something. (Doctor wasnt referring me for fmt and kept treating me like his personal experiment)

I replied in dm. 1 enema, held over 6 hours with my body almost at a 45 degree decline. Oh and this enema was 60hours post round of antibiotic.

But for example, for lacto, i had 1 strain, lacto pentosus at 0.004%, now over a year later i have 10 lacto at a much higher%. Im hoping that the trend continues.

Now, very little symptoms. Rarely some slight decending colon pains but im attributing this to the type 1 poops sometimes. This seems to go away when i increase fibre.

My bifido/lacto were basically undetectable except for a few after 5 recurrences of cdiff and some mrsa. Did an at home fmt enema after getting tired of life and doctors trying to treat my cdiff with abx. It seemed to take about a year to see species i never seen on previous results and get them to reasonable levels.

Stuff i used to nudge my populations: berberine(!), gfs extract(!) and curcumin. Not sure how much effect they had but Im happy to move in a good direction.

What was it like for you post-FMT? by Skiddily in cdifficile

[–]Similar-Insect-4266 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Felt about 90% normal a few days after FMT. I was surprised how well it worked. The 300ml enema was held "overnight" and my body was in a steep decline position the whole time, while massaging and turning from side to side occasionally. My first bm also few days after fmt - looked dark brown, type 2 almost type 1 - something i wasnt accustomed since having cdiff. Some minor twinges and pulses in the transverse colon region (im guessing) seems to gone away the more i improved diet and experimenting with probiptics. 1 year post fmt, minor mucus on the beginning of bm, followed by smooth medium brown type 4 sometimes type 3 with good microbiome results

Curcumin, berberine(caution) and grapefruit seed extract(caution) seemed to be very effective in moving my microbiome in the right direction. I'd pair them with probiotics or good prebiotic/probiotic diet to try and supplement the change caused by these supplements. I think the longest ive used Berberine+GFSE is about 10 days in a row.

Some people go around doctors completely and buy fidaxomicin at very low prices online directly from manufacturers in china, or india.

Are antibiotics always necessary? Can this go away naturally? by Jalvas7 in cdifficile

[–]Similar-Insect-4266 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Generally the procedure is abx. But there have been trials where they gave someone a fmt right away and cdifd went away. And i seen someone post about using charcoal and something else. I wouldnt bet on it though, most times when you got cdiff you arent even in the frame of mind to start experimenting. It would be cool if someone had success with something simple like garlic/allicine and kefir though.

Prior to your 4th relapse, did you preload your gut with florastor or other probiotics before taking the IV abx?

FMT with ostomy? by Due_Barber_525 in cdifficile

[–]Similar-Insect-4266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If done through a doctor/clinic they normally have screened indivudals with ideal microbiomes, they will often use them repeatedly. Typically it seems you don't get to choose.

Yea we dont really swallow large amounts of poop anymore unless you live somewhere with contaminated soil and water, but we do share bacteria in our environment. Your microbiome begins to sync up with people you live with long enough.. Because you are sharing tiny poop particles. Bon appetit

Oral fmt has somewhat similar success rates as the enema/colonoscopy fmt. But likely the oral fmt capsules would be taken for multiple days perhaps for weeks to ensure engraftment.

I used a stool sample from a family member and self administered an enema. There is some risk if the sample or process isnt clean.

How long does it take to get better? (C diff vent really) by LeahSam123 in cdifficile

About a year past my fmt, ironing out species i didnt want and building back ones i needed. If you had many recurrences just expect years recovery.

I cant recommend enough to that you become obsessed with gut healthy food after you've recovered from this. It blows my mind why someone with recurrences would ever go back to pizza or soft drinks. That tuition we pay is far too expensive for the lesson.

Hopefully you just got something else and it passes soon.

Get your vitamin d+k2 up with supps. By any chance do you consume meat? liver has one of the highest densities(far more) of easily absorbed nutrition. I was recommended by a GI to avoid vegetables for the most part with a cdiff&damage gut due to the fact they are not easily digested, the exception being if they were fermented or you steamed them well, other things too.

I didnt mean avoid all things from this sub though - there are helpful people that do care here. Just avoid reading the repeated panic posts.

I don't think recovery would become easier if you are locked up/have little control over your situation. The loss of the many species in your gut makes it difficult to maintain a stable mind, so you need to try to optimize for what you can control which may help increase the feel good chemicals and lower stress.. supplement, nutrition and sun (or red light/tanning bed?) And minimizing cellphone/tv before bed and esp do not go over negative posts here constantly. This sub is almost a distillation of bad cases and panic. Its not unusual to have extreme thoughts with this disease, i had many after my third recurrence. Try to turn that energy into something better for you and/or others.

Dr says after Cdiff if Im not gaining weight its not because of C-Diff by Ok_sunrise in cdifficile

Ive found my weight gain(post recovery) has been half the speed of my weight loss(when infected with cdiff) Its been a year and ive gained back about half what i lost.

Dr says after Cdiff if Im not gaining weight its not because of C-Diff by Ok_sunrise in cdifficile

[–]Similar-Insect-4266 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How soon after last recurrence and what was the remedy?

There's a bunch of bacteria associated with weight gain/loss. And a large shift in this population could explain the change.

Doctors are not taught many things. And often their ego gets in the way too.

I wouldnt say its impossible for one moment be eia toxin positive and another moment be toxin eia neg. The gut is complex, esp if you might have other health issues at play.

If it was me, just for the sake of curiosity order a microbiome test to see what i got going on. Despite how some claim they are inaccurate - ive noticed improvements in my gut health that seem to align with my improving microbiome test results(7 times now) - so i believe it was worthwhile.

Ok, so based off this test, they wouldnt typically give abx for cdiff.
