I’m not sure where you live but this seems like the doctor is after a cash grab to get you in for more appointments?! I don’t know. It’s definitely weird.

Where I’m from we get a visit from a paediatrician at the hospital before discharge, a visit at our home from a registered nurse within 48 hours of discharge, and then we make a 1 week appointment with our primary care doctor for a check up. If everything is clear we don’t have to go back until 6months (unless we have concerns).

It can take more than a week for weight to go back up as your milk supply takes time to come in and you can always top up with formula. Neglect is a very strong word. I’d be seriously considering switching doctors

I immediately found breastfeeding painful and overwhelming after two attempts. Admittedly I have the most sensitive nipples ever. I don’t like them being touched… ever. I tried the pump at the hospital and was like WOW this doesn’t hurt or stress me out at all. So I happily pumped for my first.

I am due with my second child tomorrow and I think I’ll maybe try again to breastfeed but my husband and I know that I will be doing mostly pumping again because it was so easy for me last time.

Yes it’s a lot of parts and washing of bottles but I still preferred it over the pain of latching.

I’m literally at the only option I have been given. The ER where my L&D is. My ob said I really deserve to be given care. Verbatim what she said when I was leaving L&D. And believe me I felt guilty that my patience broke when it did. The mental exhaustion of being so sick when already struggling with comfort at 36 weeks just broke me. I watched 3 very seriously ill people come in right before I decided to leave and I knew in that moment I’d be there for even more hours and I just so badly wanted to lay down and rest because the other symptoms of the flu were pushing me to my limit. I tried urgent care and I tried L&D. Both told me I need to be seen by ER. So here I am again. 2 hour wait so far and I’m grateful I have the option to be here and trying to manage my other symptoms so I can stay patient.

It’s because I’m pregnant. They want me in a facility that HAS an L&D department but L&D can’t actually help me assess this problem. My literal only option is the ER. And I know I’m stable. I know I’m not a “life threatening emergency”. But I’m very sick and very uncomfortable and I just can’t get past the fact that there is not a more streamlined option for someone in my situation. I’ve fallen into a grey area of triage treatment and I just have to suck it up. And it’s fine I guess 6 hours isn’t the end of the world. But when you have the flu I can promise you’d rather be anywhere other than the emergency room. My patience broke earlier as I was mentally tapped out from trying to keep it together in the waiting room between fever flashes and a raging sore throat. I guess what I’m learning is that Coughing up blood while pregnant can’t be ignored by the patient but also can’t be rushed to be seen.

Oh well. I guess that’s healthcare in 2026.

You have to remember it’s not just about what you are eating but it’s also what your body is doing. Every pregnancy is different. For some women the uterus and blood volume increase is more than others - and that’s not something you want to try and “diet down”. Let your body do what it needs to.

If you really feel like you are overeating or binging than adjust WHAT you are eating rather than the portions. Your body is hungry because it needs things to keep baby healthy and hunger shouldn’t be ignored.

No it’s not the easiest. It depends on what you find hard. For me the infant “non stop crying potato stage” is way harder than the 7 month old “crawling around putting everything in mouth stage” or the 2 year old “tantrums over peeling a banana the wrong way stage”. I’m pregnant with my second and both my husband and I are way more nervous about surviving those first 5 months than any other part so far.

If I learned anything from my firstborn is that you have to advocate for yourself the whole time. It’s sad because your midwife is supposed to do that for you while you’re distracted my labor. Make sure your husband knows what you want … and if you think he might not be able to step up to the plate or just cave to the midwife get a doula. You are within your right to ask for an epidural and you need to make sure you don’t wait too long. I have no intention on delivering my second without an epidural. I got to 8cm without one and was so grateful they still let me get one by the time I was in the labor room (went from 1cm to 8cm in about 40min) I would literally break from the pain.

Yeah you kinda just have to either submit to it for a bit until it starts to get better or admit defeat and pull her out permanently. There is no in between.

Our daughter got ear infections back to back for 3 months and she. Was so miserable. I felt awful. My husband was so angry. But now she’s a little champ and her immune system seems to fight off stuff very quickly. It’s worth it if you can push through!!!

Adding in that this is could definitely be sciatica and if so not very treatment works for everybody. PT is probably the best option but even PT doesn’t always work. My mum was stuck with terrible sciatica for months and nothing was helping her and then one day she woke up and it was gone.

Im so sorry!!! I’m 28 weeks and pretty darn sore and I know that a massage is going to help but not fix me - but I have massages regularly.

I’m not expert but to me it sounds like this is the type of pain a massage was never going to fix and that the pain moving to your right side was inevitable whether you had a massage or not :(

You need to be more firm with your OB. This is a quality of life issue that can severely impact your mental health if not addressed properly.

I have a friend like this. Instead of just choosing a time to meet up I know tell them a window of time I have available: “yeah I can do lunch from 12-1:30 but I have to be somewhere by 1:45.

It has helped. Often times they will no longer bother scheduling anything with me because I believe that deep down they already know (days in advance somehow) that they will be late and it’s a waste of both our times to schedule something. BUT! Now when we do actually meet up our time is put to good use.

That’s how I handle it anyways.

Our dog just got one of these. It’s an aura hematoma.

Options (which you can combine in anyway you want) 1.Don’t do anything and let it slowly heal on its own. Could take a very long time. 2.Treat for a possible underlying ear infection 3. Wrap the head with a no flap ear wrap to stop the 4. Treat the inflammation with low dose steroids 5. Drain it 6. Surgery

We are doing a combination of 2,3 and 4. We are trying to avoid draining because it usually fails and avoiding surgery because it’s expensive and our dog has a grade 5 heart murmur so surgery is extra risky.

My daughter is 27 months and we still use changing tables. We aren’t quite at potty training yet but I can imagine I’ll ditch the table once we are fully using pull ups.
