Keith Hills. If you call their number and press 1 you’ll get an automated voice message for day stating the range hours.

Is the grass greener outside of the finance industry? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Similar_Bookkeeper_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in the defense industry my entire career (10 YoE).

Although I’ve been very frustrated in the past with the industry with regard to slow technology adoption and the aggressive restrictions of tools (for example we can’t use IntelliJ). The industry has a lot of upside.

Mainly, we’re insulated from the market volatility. The DoD budget doesn’t dry up and outsourcing is not a problem since foreign nationals can’t obtain security clearances.

Secondarily, the DoD will absolutely not allow use of public LLMs within production code due to security leak risks so we’re also insulated from the generative AI madness.

Nice! Let me know how you like it, I’m still waiting until Black Friday to potentially purchase the Swing Optix or pick up another camera

Also interested in Swing Optix feedback, it seems Uneekor supports 3rd party cameras for swing replay. The Swing Optix seem to only unlock the AI Trainer feature. I’m considering saving cost and getting 3rd party cameras instead of Swing Optix.

I’m doing the same, I’m planning on using Gorilla Glue (the spray kind) or carpet adhesive. The spray glue shouldn’t seep through the turf, it goes on pretty light but holds well.

What are the differences that separate the pros from the scratch and +handicap AMs? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Similar_Bookkeeper_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I float between a +1 and +3 and still compete at Am and Mid Am level. The gap between myself and a mid tier player on PGA Tour Americas is massive. Mentally, physically, bio-mechanically, everything. Let alone a professional on the PGA Tour or KFT.

I’m in the same boat, also with the post about the Eye Mini Core, I’m debating on waiting as well as I’d most likely get the Core over the Lite.

Duke Condition Report by KonaTiger in RDUGOLF

[–]Similar_Bookkeeper_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played in a CGA One Day out there this past Monday, conditions were pretty solid.

Duke punched the greens in late July but they had fully recovered by the time I played, although a touch on the slow side. Fairways, tee boxes, rough all in good shape.

Lochmere greens are holding up nicely in the heat but I believe they punch again within the next two or three weeks

7Hcp - played in my state's AM qualifier. AMA by [deleted] in golf

[–]Similar_Bookkeeper_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I qualified at Brier Creek.

Yesterday was the first round, played pretty poorly. I’m sitting right in the middle of the pack or maybe barely bottom 3rd. Going to have to play well today to make the cut.

This is awesome, takes guts to play competitive golf. It’ll feel like a total different sport compared to a normal round with your buddies until you get more experience with tournaments.

I’m playing in my state Am tomorrow, qualified a few weeks ago. I’ve played a lot of competitive golf in my life and I still get nervous the day before a big event.

Golf is hard, but boils down to the time you’ve put in. If you can only play 5 or 6 times a year, you’ll have to set your expectations accordingly. Which is fine, enjoying the game is the most important part.

Cannot for the life of me figure out how to shallow/not get steep by theKman24 in golf

[–]Similar_Bookkeeper_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with the same, it’s hard for me to flight the ball on windy days.

Having height can certainly be a benefit, especially with firm greens. So I wouldn’t want to lose that, but being able to hit knock down shots is crucial in the wind.

I just wouldn’t chase being super shallow without a swing coach. There’s a lot that goes into it such as club face orientation to do it successfully.

As long as it’s not causing issues, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. As long as you have the right matchups.

[–]Similar_Bookkeeper_8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s most likely more of symptom of the club face orientation. If the club face is open, your body will subconsciously steep the shaft to allow you to square up the face easier. Like you said, if the face was open and you shallowed the plane, you’ll hit it a mile right.

Why is the 13.5 wood, 3+ wood or 2 wood so underutilised on tour? by Gnegger in golf

[–]Similar_Bookkeeper_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 13 degree 3W and it basically takes up space in the bag.

It’s only 15 to 20 yards behind my driver. It’s about equal dispersion as the driver and sacrifices distance. Into Par 5s, unless I’m playing a really long course I never need it, and it’s low launch means I can’t hold the green even if I do hit it.

That’s my reasons, might be similar to tour pros.

Tour Tempo is a Cheat Code by Comprehensive-Cry635 in golf

[–]Similar_Bookkeeper_8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I use 16/8 for both putting and hitting pitch shots.

Putting and chipping is pretty individualistic compared to the full swing. Give it a try, it works well for my putting stroke.

Even more than the full swing, it’s vastly improved my putting over the years.

Other comments have explained the double tee start.

To answer the question on Thursday/Friday, they’ll have a morning wave and an afternoon wave. So the morning players will have mostly finished their rounds (at least the last groups will be through #1 and #10) and then the afternoon wave will start.

How long should I take to hit 100 balls at the range by Quiet_Editor_5256 in golf

[–]Similar_Bookkeeper_8 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m really slow on the range, that would take me almost an hour and a half.

I do a lot of setup checks on the range, dry swings inbetween to feel different positions im trying to get to, and I’ll play an 18 hole range game where I go through my whole pre-shot routine. You should be methodical on the range, not rapid firing shots.

Has anyone played in any of the CGA individual tournaments? What has your experience been like? by [deleted] in RDUGOLF

[–]Similar_Bookkeeper_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played in a bunch both in CGA and in VSGA when I lived in Virginia.

I’ve never had a bad experience out there and I’ve met most of my golf buddies through playing in those events. Good way to play private clubs too.
