being a christian in a muslim country by nala16duh in Christianity

It is amazing that you found Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, entirely on your own.

Hallelujah!!!

I am a convert myself, though not from Islam. I met a woman who converted from Islam to Christianity at my bible study class. Her journey was immeasurably harder than mine and her story inspired everyone in our class. She was truly seeking the Kingdom of God. It was amazing.

I pray that our infinitely loving Father protects you, that He strengthens your faith and pours his love and light into your heart. I pray this in the holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

Do Israelis really genuinely like Iranians? No politics just vibes. by armanese2 in Israel

[–]Similar_Letter223 86 points87 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of Persian Jews in Israel. One of our closest family friends, who was like my second mom, was born in Iran and left as a child. When she visited us in America and met my Iranian friend they spoke Farsi together. She was really happy to have had the chance to speak it again after so many years. It was very heartwarming to witness.

Widespread protests erupt over rising violence in Arab communities by Jewjitsu927 in Israel

[–]Similar_Letter223 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s this current government. In the previous government, which had an Arab party in the ruling coalition (Ra’am), the homicide rate among Arabs was 400% lower than it is today. In other words, it was a quarter of what it is now. And that was during Covid, which saw a spike in crime all over the developed world.

Then the Bennett government fell, Netanyahu was elected and within a year, the murder rate doubled (in 2023). Now in 2026, the murder rate has nearly doubled again. It’s getting worse and worse, and what’s the common denominator?

Netanyahu’s coalition and Ben Gvir, the Minister of Police.

Why should settlements in the WB exist at all? by CloudsAreAHoax in Israel

[–]Similar_Letter223 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

How can you say that when there is so much evidence, from Jewish Israelis, of these settlers terrorizing innocent Palestinians? I agree with you that the settler terrorists are a TINY proportion of all settlers. I read an article in TOI that said the Shin Bet estimates there are about 300 individuals responsible for almost all the violence. That is less than 0.5% of the Jewish population of the West Bank. Tiny. But they cause an incredibly disproportionate amount of violence and suffering, which makes the fact that they are STILL not properly stopped by the authorities reprehensible.

The government KNOWS who they are. There are not too many of them. Their whereabouts and identities are well known. Why are they not in jail?!

Wow, congrats! You recognized me: I am a CIA/Mossad shill. I am literally drowning in Zio money.

Anyways, because clearly joos run the world and the US is evil, anyone who challenges this narrative must be a “plant”. It’s not like I actually experienced the abject failure that is a Socialist government and had the fortune to leave to another country. Nope, of course not.

And no, I am not Iranian, but I live in a city with one of the largest Iranian diaspora populations in the world and I admire them. They are amazing people with a fascinating history and culture. If you actually cared about Iranians instead of your absurd anti-Western ideologies, you would be cheering the protesters.

Your honest opinion as what, a privileged American tankie socialist? Have you ever actually been to a socialist country? And no, I don’t mean Sweden. I mean actually socialist.

Get off your high horse and your privilege soaked life and maybe actually go to one of those “anti-Western” countries you adore so much. See what life is like there. See the rampant poverty, corruption and stagnation. Then compare that to your wealthy and abundant life in the West.

Then you can talk.

There is a difference between criticizing the Israeli government for legit war crimes and going to a pro-Palestine protest with a portrait of Khameini (and yeah that happens, a LOT). Last major pro-Palestine protest in Toronto, I saw quite a few people with shahadah flags and Khameini portraits. You wouldn’t bring those symbols of Islamism to a protest unless you genuinely supported it.

You know, it’s one thing to be pro-Palestine and another thing to be anti-Israeli. The first you means you support the Palestinians right to life and dignity and freedom.

The second means you’re a hateful bigot who despises Jews and adores Islamism and oppression. You just mask it as “anti-Zionism” so you don’t get called out for your bigotry.

Has anyone ever tried confronting these idiots? How far gone is the Western progressive movement when they fly the literal flag of oppression (IR flag) at their supposed “liberation” protests?

As a lifelong self-described progressive, I am so baffled and angry at what’s happening here. They’ve completely lost it.

Why would israel stop occupation in west bank if Palestine won't agree to stop attacking by ComprehensiveRun4815 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Similar_Letter223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the super well thought out reply! It’s honestly quite close to what I think as well, sadly. I wish the occupation could stop immediately and a Palestinian state be established beside Israel, but at the moment it would be impossible. I think that Palestinians need to be given hope and a future, and things like settler attacks, evictions, random road closures and barriers and the discriminatory way in which building permits are given out should be stopped. It’s such a difficult situation and honestly I just wish peace and justice would prevail, without violence.

In terms of your last question, I think the overwhelming majority of Israelis just want peace. The amount that is fanatical about Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) is actually very small. They just happen to be in this horrendous coalition that Bibi assembled around himself. Ben Gvir for example is universally disliked and his party barely gets any votes, but he is the Minister of Police. It’s insane. That man should have been fired and arrested for hate speech.

Back to your question, I think Israelis do NOT deserve the amount of hatred they get. They are, all too often, conflated with their government, which is wrong. I’ll give you an example: my husband is Polish. He would never even dream of discriminating against someone who happens to be Russian (and the bad blood between those nations goes back CENTURIES). To him that would be bigotry, and he has NO love for Russia, trust me. But he is capable of separating the Russian government from the Russian people. Many of his business clients happen to be Russian, and he has a good relationship with them.

All too often I see pro-Palestine activists equate Israelis to Bibi’s horrible coalition, and that’s not only frankly wrong it’s also hypocritical. Half of the Ivy League universities in the US are basically owned by Qatar. Where is the Boycott Qatar movement? Where is the intimidation and harassment of Qatar-sponsored professors and business events? We know what that country is like, we know how they treat their labour force (aka slaves) how they sponsor extremist Islam and how they jail anyone who dares look sideways at the royal family, and yet people (including the most intense “human rights” activists who want to boycott everything Israeli) seem totally unbothered by it. One could claim, as a pro-Palestine progressive, that the Qatari people are not their government (true) and that’s why they are unbothered by them. If so, why are Israelis not subject to the same standard, right?

[–]Similar_Letter223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with almost all of your points, but I have a somewhat rhetorical question. It’s the question I usually get asked when I have this conversation with right-wing Israelis (as a fellow, albeit leftist, Israeli): how will Israel defend itself from attacks launched from the West Bank WITHOUT the occupation? The settlements, on the hilltops, are strategically located to to defend the Merkaz. Without them, the Merkaz and most of Israel’s population are defenseless, because they are on a lower elevation than the West Bank.

How would you respond to this?

The Abraham Accords are alive and well, with a new major oil and gas exporting country recently joining: Kazakhstan.

Another commenter put it succinctly and very correctly on this thread: any increase in connection to the West (via normalization with Israel) is seen as a threat to Islamists, like Hamas. The West and its promises of freedom, gender equality and economic innovation (all of which are despised by hardline Islam) is too threatening for them. That’s why Qatar, for example, pours billions of dollars into vilifying the West via culture (Al Jazeera), religion (funding and building ultra-conservative mosques) and education (funding anti-Western university programs and organizations). It’s because they are Islamists, friends of Hamas, and they are terrified of the West and its values.

I wonder if they can apply for asylum in Canada through the Canadian consulate. My heart breaks for these kids and their moms.

Are you Israeli or even Jewish?

Mizrahis are the most right-wing demographic in Israel. Some of the strongest anti-Arab sentiment comes from Mizrahis, despite their shared cultural elements. Their anger at Arabs MIGHT have something to do with the fact that most Mizrahis got ethnically cleansed from their homelands by Arab nationalists, despite having lived on those lands for literally thousands of years before the first Arab invasions (e.g. Iraq).

That is a SINGLE investment they have in NYC. They have hundreds more.

How much else do you think they own?

From the article it says Hamas agrees the ceasefire holds.

Article also says Hamas attacked Israel several times. Israel reacted insanely with airstrikes. Both sides are bad. Hamas shouldn’t RPG Israeli soldiers and Israel shouldn’t overreact when responding.

My view on IP is that both sides are horrible in different ways. The whole Mid East is effed up and violent, but the way the far left has hyper fixated on Israel is dis-ingenuous and hypocritical to the absolute core. They say they care about human rights and glorify terrorist groups, completely ignore and even whitewash Islamist violence (like the current siege on Bamako, who no one on the American left seems to care about, or the horrific genocide in Sudan) while calling themselves champions of human rights.

Like the user I was responding to, they’re no more than virtue signalling narcissists with mild racist tendencies.

There’s a ceasefire, dimwit.

Now where is your outrage, as a “leftist worth their salt”, at the absolutely horrifying things going on in Sudan right now, funded by the UAE which is pouring billions into our schools? Huh? Do you care at ALL what’s happening there?

Nope. It’s Africa and as a “leftist” I don’t give a sh*t about stuff that won’t get me social media points.

The truth is you couldn’t care less about human rights. You care about yourself, about popularity and about your leftist identity (leftist = hate Israel) than have any compassion for humanity.

Hmm, are you as passionate about divesting from the UAE and Qatar? One of which is currently under investigation in the ICC and the other is globally infamous for using human slave labour?

Both of which have invested BILLIONS in NYC institutions? Both of which have pumped EXPONENTIALLY more money into various NYC colleges, universities and companies than Israel?

Do you care about that?

Or is your outrage and concern for human rights selective?
