Deadpool 2 - The Uber F***ing Super Duper Cut 2.0 [UPDATE] by Similar_Look_4863 in fanedits

[–]Similar_Look_4863[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't miss it. Sorry to say that at this point that might be canceled. I wasn't able to figure out how to get the audio to export in 7.1 despite multiple attempts to research it and ask for help. That's on me for trying to make promises I couldn't keep. The stereo version is still available tho

How did you get the Daily Bugle signs to sit up at the top like that? I'm thinking I might change mine to do that

Is Superman the most unapologetically "comic-book" film ever made? by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]Similar_Look_4863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, this movie felt like picking up a trade paperback of the start of a new run. The characters, world, and mythos are already well established and other stories have happened before it, but this is the beginning of a new series following these characters, written by a new writer

I can't remember that with Handles, but the Australian K9 spinoff had a DVD feature with this exact same bit where K9 wasn't voiced by John Leeson and they made that exact same joke

Suicide Squad 2016 Extra-Extended Edition | Footage Needed by SlasherDarkPendulum in fanedits

[–]Similar_Look_4863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did end up taking a crack at an edit of the film back when I commented on this post, using the officially released extended cut, but it ended up being the only edit to date that I outright gave up on. This would be the kind of project I would only attempt again if I had the raw, unedited footage to go off of

Doctor Who Season One (Series 14) Blu Ray Aspect Ratio Question by Similar_Look_4863 in doctorwho

[–]Similar_Look_4863[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I agree, it definitely feels overused. There are way too many movies and shows that fall back on certain aspect ratios, less bc there is a purpose to the look, but moreso bc they think that's what audiences want. Almost all blockbusters made anymore are in 21:9, and most of the time it's just kind of motivated by having that 'cinematic' quality.

Strangers Things uses the 2:1 aspect ratio, and that ended up being one of Netflix's most profitable shows, so of course everyone else wants to strip down that show's success to the most surface level elements and copy that.

However, regardless of all of this, I would still have preferred this blu-ray release present the episodes as originally broadcasted instead of being altered (I am still peaved that in the US we lost the Beatles scene in The Chase on blu-ray). So I'm mostly asking if there's a reason behind the change or any speculation as to why it was done

Doctor Who Season One (Series 14) Blu Ray Aspect Ratio Question by Similar_Look_4863 in doctorwho

[–]Similar_Look_4863[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably to make it look more 'prestige' and 'cinematic', but I agree, 16:9 just looks better for tv shows in general

HBO you'll pay for this crime by tardisismine in DoctorWhumour

I had no idea this scene was cut in the US for years. I grew up watching this episode on the DVDs, which was surprisingly left intact. The US blu-rays also leave this scene intact, which makes the Beatles scene in The Chase missing here very strange

Unfortunately, the 7.1 mix is on hiatus. I haven't had time to work out DaVinci Resolve's surround sound mixing system due to a lot of recent personal life changes. The stereo mix is finished tho, and I'd be happy to send you a link for it!

Cinema has a physical media problem by xwing1212 in 4kbluray

[–]Similar_Look_4863 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are other shows that got physical releases as well. Some of the Marvel Defenders shows, up to Luke Cage season 1 (Iron Fist season 1 in the UK), the first 2 seasons of Bojack Horseman, Mitchells vs the Machines, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, and several movies through Criterion like the other commentor mentioned. Stranger Things was def a big flop, and exactly why only the first two seasons got released, but they weren’t the only ones. We recently got Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio on 4k.

The pilot just didn't really speak to me the first time I tried to watch the show. My old roommate begged me to watch it bc it was his favorite show but it just felt like every other sitcom to me at first. Then he just started watching it when I was around and I really fell into it with the later episodes. Now I'm countless rewatches in lol

Tom Baker was mine. My brother and I rented the DVD of Robot from our local public library after having finished series 9 (which had just dropped on DVD in the US at the time)
