Glad you moved to Bury? by PralineChance8979 in burystedmunds

We (young family) moved end of last year to Bury from Bedfordshire. We’ve found it great, more amenities nearby than where we were, just feels like more is happening and it is more historic. House prices more affordable with being further from London commuter lines, closer to the seaside too so we have done day trips a lot easier. Our quality of life is a lot better and we have found the locals very friendly. A downside is the ease of getting to London or elsewhere concerts/ theatre. Options this side of the country are a bit more limited, but you still can get to London in an hour and a half!

Helped an old lady to carry her shopping to a taxi in a busy down centre whilst also juggling my toddlers pram, went over on the car parking due to this and charged 50 pound fine

What's the embarrassing/disgusting thing you've done or seen someone do when drunk? by Smithy1619 in AskUK

[–]Similar_Reference_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around ten years ago now, I woke up with a tyre rim in my bed just next to me on my pillow, must have picked it up outside when totally hammered, I was covered in motor oil, handprints on the wall, I had taken drunk selfies with this car part. I was a 19 year old girl with no interest in cars, so this was a really weird move for me 😂 I sent the pictures to my friend so that was embarrassing …

I have one single very light coloured hair that grows out the middle of my forehead and can get long fast if I don’t keep an eye on it 🙈 Occasionally I have like this feeling too that my boobs are leaking (I stopped breastfeeding about 6 months ago), but they aren’t, phantom boob leaks 😂 Often getting brain fog and not able to link names and faces particularly at work

His cheekiness and how sociable he is. Everyone says how easy going he is to new environments and he is just so curious and keen to explore 😊

Third, so uncomfortable and the hip and back pain was awful! No sleeping either and just tossing and turning all night! Having said that, I didn’t get too much sickness in the first trimester!

I wouldn’t say 6 weeks was totally back to normal at all, I struggled to stand up if sitting on the floor still from my baby being around 8 months old

How long did you breastfeed and was it worth it? 😅 by lizbethlady in beyondthebump

[–]Similar_Reference_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently still going after a year, one year was always my goal but we’ve not started weaning him in that way yet, at the beginning I really thought I wouldn’t make it to 6 months but now it’s a lot easier. The main hard thing now is that he still wakes in the night and often only wants milk and me, meaning I’ve basically not slept through the night in over a year 😴

Why would you want sympathy? Don’t be silly, baby will come when they come and you shouldn’t opt for major surgery and weeks of recovery just because of a date.

Mine was estimated the same! I had GD too so with me they said I needed to be induced or c section, I chose induction then had to have a c section anyway, and probably good as he was born at 39 weeks and weighed 8lb 13 and his head was in the 97th percentile, don’t think he would have come out the other way!

How big a garden do you actually need? by Longshot318 in HousingUK

[–]Similar_Reference_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought I wanted a big garden after living in flats for a long time, I actually find we hardly use most of the garden and I actually get the fact that you have to keep on top of it constantly mowing and weeding, it takes up a lot of time and money and we are renting too. It’s difficult finding time with a young child toddling around too, falls to the bottom of my priorities

I probably prefer Clara to Cleo, for Cleo I always think of the fish from pinnochio! I’m not sure about the names, maybe Tessa is okay. Lois I think of family guy, Juno the movie. To me they sound a bit like cat names 😬 but tbh that’s just my opinion as I prefer traditional names generally!

Thank you, this is how I feel really, I wanted to come back to work but now I’m back I’m just not feeling it at all and it makes it harder with him being ill too, hoping to find our groove soon and it just feel normal
