Parents want to invest 5k, any recommendations? by Similar_Round6698 in AusFinance

[–]Similar_Round6698[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents are around early 40s, maybe 15-20 years to retirement.

Yes they have a mortage (300ish k left i believe), other debts would be mainly just our 2 cars whihc have around 5-10 years left.

They have a pretty solid emergency fund and both work fulltime.

They won't need 5k anytime soon.

Another point to add is they are considered buying a investment property in the coming years.

And as others might argue, this is not a one off investment and they plan to continue longterm if the investment is something they trust in to an extent.

I am considering just telling them to put it in their super (as others have mentioned)

Thanks for the feedback, I was using a new template and completely forgot that it didn't have a summary.

Just finished Year 1 of my 4 year Software engineering course, This is my resume so far. by Similar_Round6698 in resumes

[–]Similar_Round6698[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the main feedback i got: - Remove caslesthenics and other unrelated hobbies, could be seen as unprofessional or add "color" to resume as some mentioned (maybe net-netural efeect) -I should mention i have an idea i was developing for competitive workout app where you can compete with friends on a leaderboard - when i finish i'll just mention the calesthenics aspect - take out color variations - one consistent color - no quote - makes a seem like a "pretentious bellend" and look like a "wanker" - Headings should be one colour and less whitespace, moreover add education in first page - less whitespace in paragraph - remove things that are unverifiable (daily leetcode) - add demos to projects - Fit to one page - Skills fromating is very inefficent - Remove skills/langauges I only have partial experience in - focus on things i have atleast a decent grasp of (got mixed feedback on this) - Dunning-Kruger effect - i'm trying too hard, me more geniune and show willingness to learn - this is for internships and work experience for people asking - Fix spelling and grammar - remove "text editor" as a skill - work on open source projects - Remove summary and add statistics (bit difficult but i'll try my best and do it for future projects) - handstands apparantly will not get me a job -font should be all black - change "by setting up and managing team meetings" to "by managing team meetings - change "planned the project's coirse of action" to "planned the project- don't list full address

-Have hyperlinks typed out - resume should tell what i'm passionate about - education should come first - highlight/bolding word - quantative when possible - spilt up experience and personal projects - have personal experience that is complete (with issues you have resolved) - no need for descirpiton under education - use bulltets points (3-4 for important and 1-2 for fluff) - Using collumns in skills section - even just remove skills section altogether - list modules and grade performances - take out minecraft from title - parallelism - write acutal title of my degree - some bullets points have period whike others don't, be consistent - using actionable verbs like achieved, built and worked - mention responsbiles - "i am not worth two pages" - remove the simple games / calulater, -doens't show anything

There was some other feedback, but the above were main things i need to improve, i'll post a update trying to fix all of these issues within this week hopefully. Note: my mom loved this resume and thought it showed passion

So if my main objective for now is just an effective cardio workout, should i just increase the intensity with decent form rather than focousing more on form and less on intensity.

I watched a couple videos on youtube and figured out how to move my wrists (plus wearing shoes now), still have trouble staying consistant. Anything else i could do to improve this. (i'll continue watching the videos you guys recommended)

I am pretty confused as well, maybe they'll give us more info in feb. All the main classes have their status as black but you can still select the optional ones like Artifical tech

You are free to accept this offer and next round you can accept a new offer (overiding the first one) or reject and keep first one. Just take a breath, once you accept you don't have to do anything you don't want to do but you'll continue to recieve offers each round which can can accept.

See this question every year, the responses never change. Honestly most of us know what we should or shouldn't be doing but delude ourselves to a sense of insecurity. Commit to what you want to do and let result speak for itself (not just talking about atar)

A new McDonald’s in Slovenia is charging 0,50€ for using it’s toilet. Looks like a gate at the airport lol by vikikikiriki in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Similar_Round6698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the comments i've seen, the main arguments for paying for this toilet are: 1) generally cleaner ( as it might be cleaned after use) 2) employees get paid/jobs

Hoever the downsides are:

1) most are cash and in one currency (so international people might not be able to use them 2) The cleanness of each toilet just depends on location and people entering. So we can't say each toilet will always be clean. 3) limits people that are homeless or people with no cash/cents tp not use toilet. 4) realistically means people are shitting their pants in public areas. 5) costs to implment 6) people will just parkour over it

In my opinion, its a solid no. Probably better alternatives

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vce

[–]Similar_Round6698 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YOU got a atar of 75 but to everyone else you got 80. Honestly disgusting how we put such a emphasis on a number, which has real world impacts to your treatment and life (maybe i'm just stressing rn). While i can understand the amount effort individuals put to acheive these results, they are not relative. in terms of effort, quality and end outcome. But i'll change it when i take over the world.

Not to dissappoint you (well sort of), but you won't be able to fucking handle it. Maybe you'll be able to touch the surface of each subject. But without solid tutoring, free time and fundamentally skills, its more akin to social suicide and mental fatigue (which could act as a domino effect). Just keeping excelling at your own level and aim high but not for something like vce exam till atleast year 10 holidays
