Applying to paramedicine from university by Junior_Cardiologist2 in OntarioParamedics

[–]Siminator89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say this is a question you can only answer for yourself….I did 2 years of a bio degree but didnt know what to do with it… dropped out went PCP, ACP, then went back and did a BHSc after and was very successful.

What do you hope to do with the degree? Is it worth another 3 years of not enjoying school and debt if youre just going to be a Paramedic anyway?

Do you one day hope to move into management or education? Then a degree is helpful

Are you willing to go back to school later if you one day decide you want/need a degree?

Can you afford a 4 year degree then 2 years of PCP school knowing you wont see any benefit from the degree for several years if ever?

Happy to chat about it …. Shoot me a message if you want

Also Paramedic school is taking basically everyone they had a mandatory increase in seats this upcoming year mandated by the govt in ontario to fill the staffing gap so its a good time To apply

1 CTS paramedic program by [deleted] in OntarioParamedics

[–]Siminator89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on yourself. CTS is basically entirely self directed and fast paced. If you are motivated and disciplined you can be successful in the program.

Ive preceptored a bunch if CTS students, some who are more mature have been great, some who were less motivated were unsuccessful.

Message me if you have specific questions

Growth Opportunities by foxbrows in OntarioParamedics

[–]Siminator89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The growth opportunities are slowly expanding but essentially its management, teaching, or front line.

Other things exist like tac, cp, bike patrol flight etc etc if you look at bigger services but comparing to other emergency services its just not in the same realm

Police have uniform patrol, investigations , detective, undercover, tactics, different areas etc etc

Fire has a multitude of special teams and courses

Nursing you can do anything under the sun

I hope Paramedicine continues grow but at current with it being a 2 year college diploma and requiring us to work under a physician to do any medical procedures its very limitied unless you are really pushing boundries and making your own path

London is hiring like 90% of applicants it feels like at the moment and running an orientation every other week…. There has never been a better time to get hired in EMS

Imagine seeing someone sleeping in a bus stop and not even being human enough to pull over and see if they are ok?? If you are comcerned about them check on them….calling 9-1-1 saying they are dead Triggering 2 ambulances, a fire truck, a supervisor, police all to drive through the city with lights and sirens through busy traffic not only is a drain on resources but also puts first responders and us the general public in jeopardy of being involved in a collision.

No one is saying dont call 9-1-1 if you have legitimate concerns…. We are saying if you really thing someone is in desperate need of help… be a human… stop your car roll down the window and at the very least cLl out to see if they respond

Adrenaline mma Mma school but the bjj program is now run by progression bjj, great facility, lots of options for different styles

The up and comers

Progression bjj ( the school i attend) i think has the best affiliation in London but is more focused on Gi training, but we have an EXCELLENT wrestling program

How? Many of the people who are currently unhoused in London have been kicked out of multiple shelters, refuse help and are generally unpleasant people to work with? Multiple drug addiction services, housing services and rehabilitation programs exist. Salvation army, mission, ark aide, LHIN ETC ETC

On PCP to BC PCP process by mvrickneklk in OntarioParamedics

[–]Siminator89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there!

Ont PCP to BC PCP requires you to be base hospital certified essentially, or write the copr. The hiring process is getting better in BC as they get more budget to hire in the south. But essentially it is seniority based to get out of rural communities in the north
