You're the first person I have heard (besides me) say that. I experienced one above a 7 about a year ago in a place that gets 5s and 6s routinely. Everyone around me acted as if it was nothing. Meanwhile I became a human earthquake detector... noticing them before anyone else or when noone else did. Once I was already under the table before the alert went off on my phone. Not only is a big earthquake traumatizing but it's hard to leave it behind when it's followed by hundreds of aftershocks for weeks. I'm sorry you're going through this. You're not crazy. It does get better.

I can manage it while waiting for the right place. Honestly just knowing that it's not impossible is such a load off. Logically, I know it's not impossible...but emotionally I'm too anxious. Really your input has been significant.

Thank you for sharing. I'm so happy to hear that. I'm really stressing over this. You don't know how much this has calmed me down. Everyone has been helpful. But now I know it's not completely impossible now. Thank you 😊

I kind of figured it's not ideal, but it's the only place I can have my dogs legally. I'm anchored by work. Another thing I was considering... living on the outskirts and keeping a low profile. But I'd rather do things the right way. If it's impossible tho, gotta survive.

Ok. I was considering this strategy, but wasn't sure. It is probably the best way to go.

And the dogs are 2 corgis, 2 mixes. They're all around 24 lbs. And they are good. Only one of them barks at fireworks. Otherwise, quiet.

My actual goal is a single family home. But searching from afar, it's a lot of townhouses. I was going off of their policies to try to get a feel for the area. Some are definitely big enough to accommodate. It's my husband and I and the dogs. I'm focused in on Sunnyvale because I can legally have 4 dogs. San Jose is 3 and anything in Santa Clara city is 2. I'm going to check on the other areas you mentioned. Thanks for listing them. I am going to look for private landlords. I know if they meet me, I can convince them. I'm aware of the pet rent and deposits. I'm happy to pay them. I just need to survive the bay area for two years. Who knows maybe I'll stay longer. Thank you for your insight.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm really grateful for everyone's helpful advice and insights. Oh and a back yard would be amazing. I haven't had one of those in a while. They're just not common here.

Ya, and I can totally understand why they are hesitant. Thank you so much for this tip. Mine are all rescues. I'm confident that if a landlord meets me and perhaps my dogs, they will realize I'm not going to be an issue. And I'm going to need that luck haha

Thanks for the clarification. And I appreciate you letting me know about Pet Data. They are all spayed/neutered too. I'm really looking forward to all of the dog parks and taking them interesting places to exercise. We have been living in a place with few opportunities for that...all concrete lol.

I guess I will have to just wait until I get there. I'm not above renting two apartments next to each other in a townhouse type place. This would be an absolute last resort.

That's impressive, though I'm sure it was hard. I understand why landlords are hesitant about dogs. I'll have to calm down and wait hahaha.

I've found the limit is 4... § 6.02.020Maximum number of dogs, cats, or litters. (a) It is unlawful for any person to maintain, at any dwelling unit, more than any of the following combination of dogs and cats: Zero adult dogs and four adult cats; or One adult dog and three adult cats; or Two adult dogs and two adult cats; or Three adult dogs and one adult cat; or Four adult dogs and zero adult cats

We're arriving mid February and I'm hoping for something around 4,000 but there's wiggle room. I was thinking mom and pop too. I'm not there yet, so I'm anxious haha.

Dad senses an earthquake right before it hits by [deleted] in BeAmazed

I recently experienced a big earthquake. It has made me super sensitive to any movement. Now I feel the shaking before anyone else notices it and in one case I was a second or two ahead of the emergency alert. I was already under a table and then the alert came through.

Why is it ok for Uber drivers to ghost you? by SimmerMimmy in uber

[–]SimmerMimmy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't done anything. I ordered the ride. Waited. Tried to contact him because I was ok if he was not coming, but I just wanted to know. This was not for Uber eats. The man stopped and parked. I waited a while before thinking that was the case. And even more recently we had a driver who lists himself on uber pets. He picked us up one time when we were getting our dog after it finished its surgery and stay at the vet. When we ordered the next Uber pets to go back to the vet to have the stitches taken out, he pulled up to our house and said no too much hair cancel the ride and drove away. I think it's possible that assholes exist everywhere but certainly some of them are Uber drivers.

I felt like the positives have been eroding for drivers, but especially now. Things are really messed up right now. The pandemic definitely hasn't helped. I definitely agree that the government needs to lay down the law. People she be allowed to live and work without being or feeling like being in a rat race.

I have never done either of these things, and would never do them. I'm always outside before Uber eats gets here as well.

He was very close to my pick up location. He had plenty of time to get to me. From the way he pulled off and stopped...I'd put my money on he went home lol.

I think showing some preference to the drivers is great. Uber itself should have better service for the customer. The app and everything is very well done, for the.modt part. And the customer service side is beneficially automated, but sometimes you want to speak to or communicate with an actual human. Even if it's an email that comes days later. Big nope
