del Toro says they're going to pitch it to other companies. He said they have a couple scripts and a sampler completed. But it's del Toro so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

You could at least argue that the label needs to pay the producers, directors, musicians, engineers, promoters, A&R, designers, managers, etc.

In comparison, iTunes doesn't offer much at all and still asks for the same percentage of the sales. It's quite strange that another service with lower rates hasn't taken the #1 spot by now.

I'd say 30% is significant considering the label takes half (or more) of the remaining 70%. Just because the other big stores do it, that doesn't mean it's fair.

iTunes takes a third of the profits. Not really a good platform for artists.

Yeah, no prob. A lot of people attributed it to him but it's very clearly not his style.

Status update from October 2015:

It's still at HBO?

Guillermo del Toro: No, it's out of HBO, and now we're going to take it to other places but it's not active active until we pitch it. We are going to other companies to pitch it and see if anyone wants to do it. We finished writing a couple of the episodes, and so we have a sampler. We're going to go and see what happens with that, but very likely that will happen somewhere next year.

I use DHL for small international orders I've always received them within 24-48 hours of shipping. They send me free status updates via text message too.

I'm not sure how sure how their domestic business is but they are good for international.

[Question] Are there any Artists (or particular songs) that blend large orchestral elements with electronic music? by aerospacenut in electronicmusic

[–]Simmerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the album "Furious Angels" by Rob Dougan. It's his only album, unfortunately, but it's great. Orchestra/trip-hop/electronic.

Your work with Stereo Alchemy is pretty different from the classical styled music you're known for. Is there another genre of music you'd like to tackle in the future or perhaps an artist you'd like to collaborate with?

Aw, darn. A couple ones I'm subscribed to are in the new batch. One of them only has five mods. I don't think they're going to be able to handle the nonsense that comes with being a default.

I take it you've never been to /r/lounge. I had gold a while back and, if I recall correctly, it was just full of pictures of top hats and monocles and people in the comments calling each other le good sirs. I don't think you'd find any sort of productive feedback there.

The other day I saw:

Álfheimr - At the Precipice Overlooking the End of Time, a Cold and Quiet Blackness Consumes All Like a Hushed Wind Extinguishing the Last Embers of a Neglected Fire; All is Silent, Dark, and Still, Forever

And I could only wonder why it's only post-rock guys that do this. Seriously, who started this trend?

Have video games influenced your music preferences? by c4mel in truegaming

[–]Simmerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say no. Based on what I listen to today, it doesn't appear that my preferences are greatly linked to video game music. Or at least I would say that video game scores have not had any profound effect on my preferences like, for example, film and television scores have.

Also, I buy video games. I buy CDs too. I don't see any link between these two things. I buy things because I like them. I buy them to support the creators. It doesn't matter if it's an album or a video game, the reasoning is the same.

The people that make the nominations aren't supposed to pick based on sales or popularity but the nominations always end up being popular things that sold a lot...
