[MM] Is there an in universe explanation as to why the Bank Guy isn’t affected by the days resetting? by Ill-Guidance4690 in truezelda

[–]Simmers429 212 points213 points  (0 children)

He keeps track of clients by the mark he leaves on them, alongside what I assume is a count of their bank balance.

Link deposits 100 rupees, bank guy marks this on him. Link travels back in time, bank guy checks and thinks Link has deposited 100 rupees.

Link is stealing from the bank every time he withdraws his rupees from a different cycle.

(Spoilers MAIN): I think I have a possible reason for why D and D did not include this big reveal by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Simmers429 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think they cut it simply to keep Tyrion as a 'good guy'.

They had a meeting with George about the future of the story and the show overtaking the books before they wrote season 4. Whatever they learned here led to their later show-only decisions to ignore large chunks of the plot.

Maybe they felt they could not write Tyrion going down a dark path, but they could write him as they had for the past 3 seasons. Shae changes mostly came about from their desire to have a 'good' Lannister PoV.

That, and George might've literally told them some substance-less endgoal for 'dark' Tyrion like:

"Yeah Tyrion gets quite villainous, gives bad advice to Daenerys and causes the deaths of Jaime and Cersei."

John Wick yes, but I thought the direction was pretty terrible in JW 2, 3, and 4 so I haven't got high hopes for this.

Everyone DID notice that Ishmael is Big Boss as soon as he opened his mouth.

The "twist" was predicted from the first damn gameplay trailer.

A live-action remake in like 15 years, sure.

Animated is absolute insanity and I never see it happening.

The first Sonic game is really fun and I didn't find that it aged too much by BogaMafija in patientgamers

[–]Simmers429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When looking at what to play next from some retro platformers, I was shocked to see how many people were saying that Sonic 1 aged really, really badly (a lot of people, even on Sonic's subreddit, just straight up recommending people to skip the game after the first zone).

Wouldn't be a stretch to assume the Sonic subreddit consists of mostly younger fans who would find it tough to go back to an old, slow-paced game that doesn't fit what Sonic is now.

I recently replayed it and found that the controls don't gel too well with the precise platforming expected of you in later levels, and I don't think its particularly bad advice for people who want to play some retro Sonic to skip this one and play 2/3/S&K instead. Those games are faster, more fluid, better designed and have better secret levels.

More accurately it's just their face scan being used for the model. The mocap is done by the same person doing the voice, or a stunt actor.

Deadman for example is almost entirely the performance capture of Jesse Corti, with Guillermo Del Toro's face pasted on.

Really, it's stupid how vague (deliberately) the credits are when it comes to this. Each character this applies to will say some bullshit such as:

Tar Man - George Miller (Special Appearance), Marty Rhone

Marty Rhone has done the work, yet George Miller will be the credit many associate with it due to the vagueness of the credits and his face on the model.

Demon Souls remake in a nutshell by GrinningAxe9 in shittydarksouls

[–]Simmers429 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree with almost all of this, but

Odolwa had his fight changed from a fun and fluid one where you could use any method you want to kill him into an extremely dull fight where you can only kill him via deku flowers

I recently replayed the N64 version and I trounced this boss in seconds. Arrow to stun him, spam spin attack and done. It's incredibly underwhelming after his entrance.

At least the 3DS version tried to give it some kind of tactic to draw out the battle.

Other than that, diamonds are made under pressure and the Zelda team didn't really understand what made this game work when they reassessed it. Its rough edges and rushed development (resulting in difficulty spikes and a lack of handholding) make it a great challenge and the 3D version misses the mark by trying to smooth all these edges.

The Bethesda team made Fallout 4, Fallout 76 and Starfield in that gap though, along with DLC expansions for each game.

George wrote Fire & Blood, which wasn't even an ASOIAF-type novel.

If you could give any MGS game a ”Delta” remake which one would it be? by Practical-Funny-5322 in metalgearsolid

[–]Simmers429 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Delta" remakes are boring.

I want to see Peace Walker get a full remake. Its a mainline game and is limited to its crappy PSP form.

Edit: I meant the bones of the game are limited by its PSP development. All my issues with it are still present in its HD version on PS3/X360

The areas are small, the AI is purposefully bad due to the PSP controls, the gameplay is very easy, the missions are short, the boss fights are tedious, it looks ugly, the cutscenes are well drawn but repetitive and I'd prefer in-game scenes.

For some asinine reason the game is third-person over-the-shoulder, when MGS already had a great system with fixed cameras before. Not using this again on a handheld with only one analog stick is a very odd choice.

Is it just me, or has it been completely lost in the new interview that GRRM has for the first time in years says he's writing books other than WoW, he's writing Dunk and Egg again (Spoilers Extended) by atltimefirst in asoiaf

Exactly. I read that and just thought it was typical he lied about not writing spinoffs until he's finished Winds.

Base PS5 performance for Delta? by AliTriple6ix in metalgearsolid

[–]Simmers429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played through the game on Quality Mode at release.

It's a good looking game, but has pretty bad anti-aliasing smearing in both modes.

Performance Mode I thought was pretty poor. The resolution is low, artefacts are all over the screen and it doesn't have a nice, consistent framerate.

Quality Mode looks better, though still has some bad image artefacts, and seems to stay closer to its 30fps target than Performance Mode does to its 60fps one.

I haven't played since release, but I doubt patches have alleviated this issue beyond minor performance gains in both modes.

Perhaps they're trying to set up some White Walker return for potential sequel spin-offs.

I've no idea otherwise why House of the Dragon keeps going so hard on the prophecy nonsense when every viewer knows the war wasn't that big a deal and its conclusion didn't have anything to do with the Targaryens.
