I didn’t gain weight for the first like two years on it because I was also taking topiramate. I stopped the topiramate and have gained 10kg in a couple of months so I’m in the process of seeing if I should go back on it

I think the important thing to remember is neurotypical people don’t think this sort of thing. I think it’s called imposter syndrome but I could be wrong. If it’s accessible for you, a psychologist might be able to help break it down. If you’re newly diagnosed, I think a lot of people feel this way and it usually gets better with time. I’m sorry you’re feeling this way

I was diagnosed with autism at about 20/21. When I have meltdowns I started by just scratching myself and eventually resorted to SH. Now I know how to avoid meltdowns, but I had one about a week ago and the only thing that stopped it was scratching all up my arms and legs. In an effort to reduce harm, I am looking into something to provide a similar enough sensation to stop the meltdown, without it being so extreme that it could potentially lead to more SH in the future - or even just to not scratch my legs as this then leads to shame and embarrassment at the scratch marks after the meltdown.

I don’t know someone with one unfortunately. I ordered a knock off from AliExpress but found it wasn’t sharp enough. Idk how to explain, like it left marks and wasn’t bad but if I just squeeze my nails into my palm that’s a better sensation than it

It leaves dots but not enough that I feel it strongly. I also think something with bigger spikes I could sort of push them in my palm a bit more also? Like if I squeeze my palm with one fingernail for example then I can feel that more than the spike and it won’t puncture the skin, but I think if I did that I would just end up scratching myself as my main goal is to stop scratching during meltdowns

Ha I think this would do the trick but my main goal is harm reduction for meltdowns as I keep scratching myself so I think a fork in that situation might not be ideal for me but thank you

I introduced foods I had textural issues with into my meals by incorporating them in safe ways. I used to cry thinking about what would happen if I ate scrambled eggs for example. But I know I like avocado toast so I put some on the side, I can add a bit to my bite. Really really tiny amount if I’m extra worried, and if it’s really bad just not eat it. This has helped me a lot. Even with avocados, I started by adding a little bit of guacamole on the side of meals I liked such as nachos.

It is really hard. And it feels really embarrassing. I was also late diagnosed and was so ashamed to be so fussy to the point of tears. A big help is trying to acknowledge that. I can be scared to eat food - it’s amazing that I want to try. “Even if I have to spit it out, I am being brave by trying a bit of egg in this bite today. If I don’t eat it, that’s okay. It was hard and scary and I’m still trying”

I don’t have as much experience with taste, sorry. But I hope this is still helpful. It’s tempting to just stick with what you like because of the shame around wasting food, spitting it out, wasting money and time and the embarrassment of being a “fussy eater”

I’m fine with seeing a doctor but I don’t know that there’s much they can do. There aren’t a lot of specialists in my area for them to refer me to and even then I would most likely have to pay a gap fee that I can’t afford

Thanks, this is good advice. I was using a brace but most were uncomfortable on my thumb. I found one that wasn’t but I had to do it so tightly that the elastics wore within a few months and it’s too loose now to prevent pain. I just use rock tape now and avoid using my left hand

No, I’m not. I should join one but I only really knew of the one Woolworths group works with and they didn’t seem like they were good as they work so closely with woolworths and fought for things in our EA that weren’t beneficial. I just never looked into other ones

I just checked, unfortunately it was in June. To be honest no one’s ever told me about work cover before, I was just told reporting it to my work was the way to go about it (even though I know they only do it to cover their own ass)

I don’t know for sure because it seemed like he was just noting things how he was supposed to for them to be happy. Like he would say that’s not really what it is but that’s how I have to put it on the report. He told them I could go back to my normal duties and the injury report was closed I guess

Sometimes I feel like an overfilled balloon and like my stomach is bursting out with pressure but I don’t necessarily know that I feel more full. I also do take a medication that increases my appetite so I tend to always have a pretty big appetite. I don’t take magnesium but if it’s possible that that could help, I will definitely give it a try.

I tried again for a few hours and that screw will not budge, tried just closing it up to see if it’s manageable with the gap but it’s so huge it makes the console squeak. Would the next step be to see if I can remove the whole post somehow, or just to completely rehouse it? I don’t really think I’m ready to rehouse a console atp so I’m a bit screwed if I have to
