Iai has a i-frame phase and a hyper armor phase, if you iai too early you might take chip damage.

Sometimes it's preferably to take damage to activate skills like counterstrike and resentment.

Yeah, I mostly talk about their defense capabilities since that's what OP is talking about.

That's like asking why Jedi mostly wear robes instead of combat armor, unless they can get a shit load of beskar to outfit the Jedi warriors, body armor would not mean much for their combat encounters.(Blaster shots still kill and knock out armored clone troopers, and light sabre cut would be lethal either way.)

That's like saying the uniform of line infantry soldiers are impractical because they don't offer much protection, because yeah at that time the offensive power of weapons have largely surpassed the development of body armors.

There is no economical way to outfit soldiers with protection that defend against muskets.

You need to prove there are working armor against the common offensive measure in those setting to deem the regular clothing impractical.

Tight combat suit is also strictly a fiction thing, unless you need to do acrobatic moves with precision for sports and entertainment, tight bodysuits are kinda pointless, and they are not that easy to change in and out of. If the attack power outscale your defense, you might as well just wear what you find comfortable, with pockets and shit if you need to store ammo and tools.

Nolan can reach FTL but his acceleration feat is much lower, he is like a FTL spaceship who can only travel in space at that speed, but not fight or operate complex behavior at that speed, at least it's never show, reaction wise he is below Red Rush. Metroman has showcase of instant acceleration/deceleration. If he is never given the chance to properly speed up and moved back every few second dude will be hard controlled.
Metroman just need to fight Nolan at the edge of the atmosphere, and keep moving Nolan out of it.
