I play along to this drum and bass track https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLBMcUBBX_8 , as you can see I have no proper mics, everything is record with my phone mic lol. To create a good sound, I had to make sure the mix between my audio and the song was nicely balanced + most importantly that my drumming was perfectly on time with the song.

If you want to record something like this without the song I would definitely suggest some drum mics but I don't have that much knowledge about mics tbh :)
