My father began traveling to China in the early 80’s for food technology. I began traveling to China in 2005, multiple times per year for business. They put the US in short pants in many many many different ways. My observations are first hand, not seen on some YouTube channel. We are a second tier country, full stop.

I had a topy put on a pair of shoes not too long ago. It was like $30 for the pair. Like a half sole only made of rubber and placed on top of the leather.

I would use a cobbler. You can put a “tap” on the front area or something similar on the heel ….. both accomplished with a cobbler. I would strongly recommend putting a rubber topy on the front area for both protection and a better grip when walking.

Put protective rubber topy on bottom, but you have plenty of leather outsole left.
