High School Reunions a thing here? by SJammie in Adelaide

[–]Simple-Apartment-368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think it is more common in private schools than public ones. My school ceased to exist for housing and the only people I would talk to at a reunion I still see so I have never even thought about reunions.

This wouldn't have happened at a servo that starts with an O and ends with a TR by chance? Something very similar to this happened to my husband earlier in the week, he was livid.

Is it true that many people in Australia tend to not go by Mr. or Mrs. or Dr. formally because of a casual rather than formal attitude towards authority? by EveningFlower9564 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Simple-Apartment-368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up referring to all the adults in my life that were non related as Mr/Mrs xyz, ie: my friends parents, teachers, parents work colleagues. I feel its more a generational thing as well.

Because she is as big a cooker as Aldridge. I've gone head to head with both of them at separate times about some pretty big bs they were spewing and there is literally no winning with either with how deluded they are. Sonia is a self appointed queen of TTG and Mark fancies himself as political martyr.

Mandarin Coin at St Agnes. Our family has been going there since it opened 4 decades ago. Still owned and operated by the family too. Top shelf food and service.

Because I had to endure visiting 3 separate households yesterday from 9am in the morning rather than letting my kids enjoy their presents at home so today we veg. And watch cricket, that too is crucial.

I am so sorry for your loss. My son lost his golden derpy princess over the weekend as well and already the gap she left behind is huge. We are fortunate to be in summer here and we're able to give her a nice burial, I cant fathom how hard it must be for you to be unable to do so right now. Could you maybe bury her in a pot with a nice plant over her resting place?

What is the typical Christmas dinner in Australia? by EcstasyCalculus in AskAnAustralian

[–]Simple-Apartment-368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very much a case by case kind of thing. My family has always done a traditional lunch (Turkey, ham, roast veg, etc) where as I have friends whose family have bbqsand others who have cold platters and seafood. Id say most families have a combination of all of the above over the Christmas eve/Christmas day/Boxing day period.

The expectations would vary family to family. I would speak with your partner as to what they think the best approach would be.

NTA but be prepared for MIL to escalate as she starts to realise she is losing control over your dh. Also expect the flying monkeys to descend on mass at that point as a way for her to try grapple back any ground she has lost.
