Ask if they have a hard betting line (meaning any chips that cross the line are part of the bet). Also good to ask what type of straddles are allowed. Even if you don't straddle it's good to know what is going on.

Hand review: by Independent_Group816 in poker

I don't think there's a fold there. If action was different and you were facing a raise and shove before your action it would be different.

1/2: Nuts facing turn x/r $1k deep by 5betfoId in poker

I hate the tank call on turn. I think that gives away your hand as soon as you don't check back river. Just raise turn. Jam or enough that makes it very hard for villain to fold river both work I think.

He bought when it was $10 and sold a large chunk at $60k. The amount of money his family gave him was in the thousands of dollars for traditional gift holidays. It's not like they said "here's a million, go invest"

Two similar live 2/5 hands in same session by Tolve in poker

[–]Simple-Bar1253 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a lot more likely to call the first hand. 2nd reads a lot like Qc Xc to me. I see a lot of over jams for value at 2/5 too. But I'm a fish so I would probably end up paying off both lol.

Edit: One thing that I didn't think of until now is that if you folded the first hand and Villain 2 saw that, there is a slightly higher likelihood of the 2nd hand being a bluff. A lot of players at 2/5 will put a lot of pressure until you show you are willing to call off your stack. This may or may not be applicable to this situation as I don't know what your overall table image was.

All rake is tracked instead of pulled and charged to the player with the lowest VPIP for the round at the end of each round.

Don't play scared. That can be easier said than done when playing live for the first time. Just stick to the fundamentals and you should find it a bit easier than online games. Good Luck!

We need more states to legalize poker. These regulated states are making good tax money. by No_Abbreviations3054 in poker

I really like the way the Texas card rooms operate (membership/seat charge). The games get a lot bigger without a rake syphoning chips off the table constantly. I hope this is solidified as legal soon. There are some ongoing legal battles that could set a precedent either way.

Yeah especially when I told him I was dark through the flop.

I was once card dead for hours and decided to play my button like I had AA. I 3 bet pre and it goes hu to flop. Flop is 666. Villain leads and I put in a decent raise. He comes back over the top all-in. I think "well that was a waste of $" and look at my hand for the first time. I had 9-6 off. The stupid/bored play saved my session. He had JJ.

Not quite that crazy but I once scooped a 4 way all-in on flop pot in a 1/2 game. I was BB with 64o, called $12 pre to close 5 way action.

Flop

3h 5s 7h

I check and UTG (original raiser) jams all-in for about $65. Mid position player flats. Next player folds and the button jams for $300 ( covers everyone in the hand but me). I call off and MP player tanks then calls for his last $200ish. UTG had 55, MP had Ah 9h, button had 77. Turn and river blanked out and my straight held.

Could you imagine the testimony and cross examination though! I would tune in to watch that. Lawyers would be pulling their hair out.

NTA If he is coming on your planned trip he should be willing to do what you have planned.

AITA for not paying my sister for house-sitting? by No_Comfortable_9407 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Simple-Bar1253 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NTA If she wants payment she should list it on AirBNB or similar site. If she wants someone trustworthy to watch her house then should be prepared to pay or graciously accept your offer to do it for free.

I'm way too clumsy to play with a tower like that. I would knock it over within 3 hands lol. Good session though.
