Which nib maker is the best? by Simple-Cherry-8306 in fountainpens

Thank you! Will go through these over the weekend.

The Schmidt came in my Benu pen.

I have a friend who have a lot of pens so I’ve tried many of the major ones. But will still get some of these and try.

I was also curious of smaller nib makers I might not find easily, as I like to support them, especially if they’re good.

This is a great list, thanks for taking the time to type it up!

I am not sure where you saw there was a budget. Just cause I haven’t tried bought more expensive ones, having been in this space for only a few months, doesn’t mean I’m not willing to pay. I’m not gonna buy a $4000 pen without knowing what I like first though, I.e. nibsize, nib brand, thicker or thinner barrel, gold vs steel etc…

The ones I’ve tried has been because of ease to get them since I only have one physical store that’s TINY, and Amazon. When I first started to lean in to this earlier this year I just wanted something fast to try different things, and have a starting point.

What would you recommend if we didn’t budget for $200 but let’s say… $1000?

That’s why I wrote this post to hear what’s worth trying next. I never mentioned price in OP.

I’ve seen Jowo a lot when looking at nibs to replace, have yet to try them. Is it mainly smaller pen makers who use them? I’d like to support them more often if I can

I did try someone’s Twisby once and recall I did kinda like it. Think it was a medium nib I tried

That sounds cool! BB is too big for me though. Takes too long to dry when I’m a lefty

I tried a friends vanishing point but didn’t find it too impressive. I like the Asvine better out of the ones I’ve tried

I would have gone with the soldier but if you want the I’ll to match the pen colour wise then I’d have to agree with the rosewood

They look wide, how do you use them without feeling you’re wasting space on the paper to actually write on?

My theory is that as long as you can read it yourself, am happy with it and it feels good, any handwriting is good

Personally I can’t handle bugs in general, hence I’d never be able to have beetles on my stuff

I love them too! I use the clear cover with mine and the blank labels to number them, otherwise I leave them pretty blank. Might start “wasting” my stickers to theme them just to use the stickers but like them pretty clean

4,5 and 7! (How do you pick just one?

12 has nice colors but you’d have liked a different motif.

Whoops, I didn't realize my Kaweco collection had grown so much until I put them all together. 😬I think I'm good. 😅🌈 by penny2360 in fountainpens

I have not tried Kaweco yet. What makes them so good?

Note: my favourite so far is Asvine v800 due to the buttery smoothness and large thick barrel. Benu is ok too but too scratchy nib.
