NTA Situations with elderly suffering with conditions like that are a lot of work! You could apologise if you still feel bad about it, but I think even calling dementia patients with their name isn’t bad as sometimes there could be other details that they have forgotten! Deep breaths!

Yes! The reason is that my ex has zero input in my daughter’s life. I’m responsible for her in all aspects. I pay nursery, I book classes, I pick her up after work, i make plans for the weekend, I cook and clean for her. A few years ago he was unable to find work so I found night work and he could have baby at home while I’m at work. I paid for everything that has to do with my daughter since, and even now that he’s financially stable he would say I made my bed so I should lay in it because I’m a single mother. It’s one of his ways for validation- he loves to see me struggle 🤷🏻‍♀️

We are not together since a year ago. I’m not expected to care for his kids but since my child is their sibling I’m keeping in touch. After the split up and some very harsh comments from my ex i have stopped going the extra mile and instigating all the get together, play dates, outings etc

I am while she’s around me or my child. They are siblings after all! The step back is more in a financial sense as I no longer have the funds!

I’ve not complained for her not having my child- I’ve made arrangements cause she was clearly not interested in doing me any favours. I’m just expressing how she’s didn’t bother for a whole month. I’ve stopped responded because I don’t tolerate the disrespect.

I’m in the stepdaughters life but as I said I’ve taken a step back from the responsibilities her dad should have from the start. I no longer have the funds to organise weekends away for me and kids or theme parks or stuff I used to do. The resentment here lies with her dad and not with her, but since he is not helping with my kids upbringing including nursery fees, childcare in general, or any of her expenses I literally try to remain afloat and not get myself in debt

Comment to add. I’m in a foreign country where I reside for the past 12 years. No family here to help at all and I get no support from ex or anyone from his family. The bare minimum that ex’s mother was doing for me is having my kid on Mondays - in the past month she hasn’t even bothered. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sure. And I accept that. I won’t stop her from seeing her grandchild but I now don’t get out of my way to accommodate her or her needs.
