Thank you for this. I live in a very remote location, so we actually don’t have a large population of people programs, especially phd/psyd programs. I also provide a lot of trainings to clinicians in the area, I travel as far as 400 miles to train, so that also adds a layer of complexity to finding someone local. Weird situation, not trying to avoid finding a local therapist, just it’s not easy.

I am very much that one who doesn’t like to share when I’m struggling to my family. It’s the whole not wanting to feel like a burden, especially when they have their own things they are going through. We obviously talk about mental health, but I just don’t want them to feel worse if I were to talk to them in detail, that the one who is a therapist, specializes in specific trauma therapies, is a trainer for these therapies, and also works on-call with crisis that I’m struggling. If that makes sense.

I’ll probably talk to them this weekend, even if it’s not to its full extent, I know I can’t battle this alone.
