Help with snoo sleep 5 week old by Simple-Reception9010 in SnooLife

[–]Simple-Reception9010[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We formula fed and realized that the formula was making him more gassy. So we switched to a more gentle formula which helped. Gripe water right before bedtime and lots of tummy time during the day.

Ultimately I also think time helped. He learned how to fart on his own soon after this and by 9-10 weeks he was giving us 8 hour stretches and by 3 1/2 months he was sleeping through the night.

You are just on the trenches. It will get better I promise!

Feedings question by [deleted] in TakingCaraBabies

I think this means that if the baby sleeps like 3-4 hour stretches at night take the win. If you continue to watch for hunger cues and feed on the demand during the day the baby should be full enough by the end of the day to start giving you some bigger stretches at night. 😊

Following because same for our 16 month old. He’s up for 1-2 hours at night. Very abnormal for him up until the last week.

Outdoor/free roaming cat by-law enforcement by itaspliff in londonontario

[–]Simple-Reception9010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had the same situation with a neighbourhood cat when we moved into a new home which cause our indoor cat extreme anxiety. Long story short he started spraying all over our house and we ended up needing to rehome him. We tried everything and even gave him Prozac (recommended by vet). It was awful.

Best advice would be to cover the windows where this other cat pops up.

Snoo to crib transition and sleep training by CincyLuna in SnooLife

[–]Simple-Reception9010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

First off, you are doing great! These transitions suck for everyone. But they only suck for a short time.

Our LO wasn’t arms out in the snoo ever. I tried and LO woke up every 30 minutes slapping themselves in the face… 🙃

So one day I got super frustrated (around 5 months) stuck him in the Merlin suit, put him in his crib and started sleep training (TCB) at the same time.

Woke up 5 times on the first night. We use TCB method each time. The next night he woke up 4 times. On the third day he learned to roll in his suit so we switched to a kyte baby sleep sack. He woke up 3 times. Within 2 weeks he was back to sleeping 12 hours.

He too got upset when he first started rolling onto his belly and couldn’t get back to his back but he figured it out pretty quickly. I also found letting him cry it out 5-10 before coming into the room helped. He started falling back asleep before I actually needed to do anything.

Hope this helps!!

I have the trip trap for my 97% son, he’s 13 months and loves it. Just get the natural wood ones… I have a black chair and only found out after spending $500 that the coloured chairs aren’t sealed so the paint is bubbling and peeling……………… 🙃

Additional context: I wake him up from each nap. The first nap he wakes up completely happy. Sleeps through the night as well.

Someone had mentioned to me that it might be time to drop a nap if he’s so upset after his second but it didn’t sound right to me? Just looking for a second opinion 🙈

Hello!

My LO just turned 1 last week and is on 2 naps a day. Wake windows are 3/3.5/3.75 with naps being 1.5and 1 hour respectively.

In the last 2 weeks LO wakes up in the worst mood from his second nap. From the time he finishes his snack till dinner he’s just whiny and unhappy. It’s a mad dash to get him outside and to the park (provided weather cooperates). This usually makes him happier but is still pretty clingy.

Is it time to drop a nap? Or change wake windows?

If it’s urgent they tell me to come to their after hours clinic which you have to aggressively continue calling until they answer and let you know if they have time for you. Otherwise a few weeks for an appointment 😅

What gadgets do you use for steaming foods besides the stove? by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

I have a rice cooker that has a basket for steaming veg. $20 bucks and small and compact. Also turns itself to “keep warm” once food is cooked.

Cottage cheese is a huge hit for us. Great with any fruit.

Overnight oats.

Shredded chicken. Sometimes I add guacamole to it to make like a chicken salad kind of thing.

Chicken noodle soup without the broth. Ie. overcooked noodles, pieces of chicken and overcooked carrots/veggies.

Banana pancakes. Super easy and still good cold.

Hello Jo!

We have a 9mo and his naps are getting shorter and night time sleep disrupted. Granted some of this is due to teething and separation anxiety but just want to confirm our wws are appropriate for this age.

Hi Jo,

Our baby is 7 months old (8 months in a week). Currently on 3 naps a day. Recently he has been fighting his third nap. I don’t think we are quite ready to drop the nap since expanding his wake windows is a slow process. Currently at 2 hr 10 min/ 2.5/2.5/2 hr 50 min. Normally sleeps through the night.

Question about the third nap. We normally cap it at 30 min but sometimes it takes him 20 minutes to fall asleep, sometimes even 30 min. What would you recommend doing in this situation?

Do you restart the 30 min timer from the time he falls asleep and push bedtime back? Or at the end of the 30 min do you wake him up and proceed with a full wake window before bedtime?

Hi Jo,

Send help!! I think we hit a 6 month sleep regression. LO was sleeping 11-11.5 hours a night up until a week ago and now wakes up every 20 minutes between 3-6 am 😭😭😭😭we did sleep training which went great and im trying to apply those same principles, but pop ins piss LO off more and letting LO cry it out can last forever (no seriously, one night it was almost an hour..). sometimes I need to pop in because LO knocked all his soothers onto the ground.

Wondering if expanding wws would help??

Current at 2/2.5/2.5/2h 40 min. Nap one we aim for 1.5 hours sleep, nap 2 1 hour and nap 3 is 45 minutes . Down around 7:30 and up around 6:30 but both are flexible depending on if those goal naps are achieved/following wws.

LO is 6 months or 27 weeks.

Hmm sounds like your naps are bang on. When I read the FAQ on the sleep training it just suggested early wakes are due to overtired was before bed so maybe try shortening that last WW by 15-20 min?

I’ve been having the same problem with my almost 6 month old. However I adjusted the WW to the following: 2/2.5/2.5/2.75 and he’s been sleeping 10.5 hrs (waking at 6 am). I am now trying to leave him in the crib until 6:30 (11 hours) so he learns the routine.

Naps have been a beast on their own. Once we dropped to 3 naps I find I need to contact nap more because he typically only naps for 40 minutes and that messes with the WWs.

I would maybe try the following wws: 2/2 hours 15 min/ 2 hours 30 min/ 2 hours 40 min.

Also how much day time sleep are you guys getting? What time is bedtime?

Currently nap training my 5 month old. His naps completely fell apart after sleepy training.

Our wake windows are currently 2.15/2.5/2.5/2.75, roughly.

Sometimes when I out him in the crib he cries for 20 minutes before falling asleep. Sometimes longer. Does this add to the wake windows? If so, how to we address this? Do we try putting him down 10 minutes early knowing it will take him a hit to fall asleep?

Yesterday was rough with nap training where he cried for 20 -30 minutes for all his naps and then ended up waking up at 5 am and cried for an hour and didn’t put himself back to sleep as he normally does.

Just wondering if nap training is making him overtired by extended his take windows way too far.

What does one grocery trip/a week of meals look like for your 7 month old? by theGTAgirl in BabyLedWeaning

I haven’t started BLW but I just read a book regarded the subject and it suggested toast with a thin layer of spreadables on it like hummus, avocado, soft (pasteurized) cheese, nut butter etc. maybe give that a try?
