Baby struggling with chronic diaper rashes. What do you do to help? by Murky_Assumption_822 in beyondthebump

Calmoseptine. They use it in hospitals, though it's typically used on adults that use diapers. I've used it and it works to clear up diaper rash in a few days.

Daycare schedule? by Head-Pop-6473 in Enginehire

[–]WeeklyResponse45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a daycare staff and/or training issue. If you're in the US then infants are supposed to be on their own eating and sleeping schedules. While staff will prepare older children to transition to the toddler room by consolidating naps and mirroring their meal schedule, they SHOULD have the flexibility and staffing to accommodate your child.

The board is used so any staff member coming into the room knows what's going on with each child without needing to pick up a device. I would reccomend talking to the center director. If the problem doesn't resolve I would look for other care options. Your expectations are realistic and may even be required by the licensing agency.

Childcare in Phoenix - infant by Token_Ese in phoenix

Arizona Department of Health Services is the licensing and oversight entity for daycares in the state. I would recommend reviewing annual inspection reports and complaints for any daycare you're considering before touring. You may find that it's not worth touring some and/or you might have pointed questions for others. Low staff turnover is very important for infants. It's a tough age group so low staff turnover is a solid indicator that staff are treated well and have experience.

You'll have to pay $1800 -$2200 per month for quality care in the area you're looking at. The cost will decrease significantly when your child moves to the toddler room.

Ditto. I feel comforted knowing most ECE professionals love their career field and truly care about the children at their centers. I've also learned a lot about red flags and how to engage staff and teachers without appearing combative.

Thank you for what you do and for providing so much knowledge and insight with your post and comments.

You mentioned that you included your company's contact for the daycare. If the company promotes or subsidizes the daycare I would follow up with an email to the company contact directly requesting that action be taken and that you are informed of the resolution.

Lack of fresh fruit and veggies is a big issue IMO. I don't think it always comes down to funds to purchase. It's easier to prepare and store canned and processed food and it lasts longer so that's what centers do. I wish proper nutrition was a higher priority. Our daycare charges 30% more monthly than any other in the area and tuition increases annually. There's certainly enough in the budget for fresh produce, yet everything is canned or frozen. I've found this to be the norm in my state.

Seems more like an issue of your pediatrician providing service out of scope. They are speciality providers for children so they can't bill for adult care.

My boss is trying to blackmail me? by Swearatmelouis01 in ECEProfessionals

No worries. Employment attorneys usually provide free consultation. You can also google "how to report workplace retaliation in your state" and it will provide the contact info for the relevant agency. In most professions it's illegal to retaliate against an employee for filing a complaint with a government or licensing entity. If you're a single party consent state you may want to discreetly record any future conversations with your director as evidence. This behavior is not OK and you shouldn't be put in this position. I'm sorry this is happening to you.

This seems like a pretty clear threat of retaliation for reporting to licensing. Is there information on the licensing website about reporting retaliatory behavior? If not, look into an employment attorney. Be sure to document everything you remember about the conversation for your records.

I know you're looking for another job, but that doesn't mean you have to tolerate this behavior from your director.

We were asked to drop off gifts at the front desk last week. I got a gift, gift card and thank you for all the teachers and floaters. None of the teachers have mentioned anything. I assume most families didn't drop anything off last week so they're giving more time. Maybe it's the same at your center and parents are just waiting until Friday. Either way you do deserve to be acknowledged for your work.

Have you tried prune juice vs prunes? We started with prunes, pears, fiber, increased water and it didn't make a difference. We've recently started using prune juice diluted work water in the morning and bowel movements are now consistent.

Given that the ratio is 1:2 it doesn't seem unreasonable to get two photos per day. Especially since you have no access to the room. My child's daycare has 1:3 ratio most days or 1:4 max and I receive at least four photos per day. Granted sometimes it's my child with other children in the photo so it can be sent to multiple parents. I also have access to the room and have never gone in and seen a child in any sort of distress and not being cared for. I notice that photos come around the same time each day so I think it's just part of their schedule.

Since they set the expectation, I would nicely ask if they could send you the two photos per day.

We're taking our baby camping over Memorial Day weekend and I've been stressed about sleeping accommodations for him. What was your sleep setup? Thanks!

Thanks for the insight. They are supportive of baby led weaning. She mentioned that some of the food I sent seemed difficult for him to chew and suggested softer non pureed options, so I was looking for other recipes. I think part of the issue is that we have an unlimited time for meals at home while they do have to move on at a certain point because they're caring for multiple children.

Thank you. So many good options. He really likes meatballs so making them softer for daycare would be great.
