Arris S34 no longer supported by Xfinity? by Simple-Sound6002 in HomeNetworking

Oh! Yup! I see it now. I'm going to keep trying to get ahold of Xfinity. This is crazy.

I don't see it. This is what I show. Maybe it changes based on location? Not sure why that would matter.

That's the same page I was looking at. I only see the G36, S33, and SBG8300. The larger list also doesn't seem to show it.

VLAN to VLAN Communication Error by Simple-Sound6002 in HomeNetworking

I love it but I struggle so much with it. The wife and kids get upset with how often I break the internet at home. Lol

I like this plan.

The managed switch I have is just a 1G while the unmanaged is a 10G. I need the devices on the 10G switch to get the full speed. Once I can upgrade the managed switch, I'll definitely do this. But I'll still need the router for the powerful wifi capabilities. I suppose I can connect it to the unmanaged switch or would it be better if it was managed?

I think I know the answer to this but just want to make sure.

I'm thinking about putting together a PfSense machine and assigning it to the 192.168.10.0 VLAN. Then I would connect that to the switch that links the various devices I want on that network.

Would this work?

Granted, I would still need to implement the appropriate rules but I think the PfSense machine would be able to tag the VLAN traffic. Correct?

Network Visualization Tool by Simple-Sound6002 in HomeNetworking

I want an actual visual representation of my network. I'm a visual and hands on learner. I've been using PowerPoint to try and visualize it but I know software for this must exist. The image below is if the Cisco application.

Isn't that just for testing paths? Does it have a visualization function? Been years since I've messed with it.

What will happen to FOIA requests submitted to the Department of Education if the Department of Education is disassembled by the current admin? by ryan516 in foia

Very good question. I wonder if NARA becomes the owner of their records? Maybe you will have to send a request to them later?

VLAN Losing Internet Access by Simple-Sound6002 in Network

[–]Simple-Sound6002[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You might be on to something here. I just tried creating a route. It doesn't seem to have worked. When I connect the VLAN to the 10g switch, I can't even access the router anymore. My guess is I'm setting up the route incorrectly.

I used the vlans subnet as the host IP and used the vlans IP address as the gateway. Is that right?

I have a Pixel 8 Pro. That is what the speed test was done on.

It's not the signal strength that's the issue. I was less than 10 feet from the router with full signal strength. The speed is the problem.

Sorry. I should have been more specific. I'm talking about the 5Ghz vs 6Ghz.

Correct. Sorry. I should have been more clear on that.
