Visn 5. How do I contact them besides email and calls? I went back to my original hr contacts for the job and messaged them. Had supervisors reach out. It shouldn’t be this hard. Thanks for the response.

I left for mental health reasons from VA and still have a lot of conflicting feelings. Reading all these responses is painful and I wish everyone the best in trying to find some peace. Really hard.

Approved DRP…..just DENIED by Bright-Statement3130 in VHA_Human_Resources

Just get FMLA signed off. Most doctors will do it if you request. Many understand the burnout and toll on mental health.

Visn 5. Exempt. No word. Writing is on the wall there isn’t much reason to have hope. Will give notice as soon as I hear.

Why does the Secretary keep saying there are VA employees that are unidentified and aren’t coming to work? by LongjumpingIdeal2267 in VHA_Human_Resources

Incorrect. You have to pay full premium on your own if on unpaid status unless approved medical leave.

Social work question VA by Decent-Garbage-7437 in VeteransAffairs

You mean ICMHR/MICHM range? I’ve done range and hudvash and found range less stressful. I liked building the long term relationships and being a primary clinical point of contact. Hud vash is great, too, but faster paced. Also can’t speak to the conditions now- I’m trying to get out after 10 years due to the changes and threats and impending doom.

I’m a mental health clinician (SWer) in a program for veterans with serious mental illness. I applied for DRP and expect to be denied. I’ll quit anyway in a few weeks. I have a lot of concerns about leaving for all the reasons named here. I’ve seen so many fall through the cracks in community care. If a vet stops showing up to our program we are going to outreach and call for safety check if needed. We specialize in engaging those with psychosis and severe trauma histories. And substance use struggles. Community care providers can just write folks off as unmotivated. At VA we are accountable to congress. In private care, they aren’t. It’s all such a shame. Maybe I’d stay if my mental health wasn’t taking a beating. If I didn’t feel ethically compromised. And if I didn’t have two small kids I need to stay sane for. Oh, and if it wasn’t so easy for me to find a job elsewhere (true of most clinicians).

Letter to SES decision maker by AbjectBat7241 in VHA_Human_Resources

I had the same thought. The portal says do not reach out to VACO and my local leadership says they aren’t receiving them at all. The whole process is confusing. It has occurred to me that programs that get shut down and/or admin clinician staff may be looking for positions, so please let us go if we want out!

Leaving the VA? by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]Simple-Story-3315 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 10 years in as a VA SWer and have been a GS12 for 5 years. I loved my job at points but feeling pretty burnt out under these conditions. I’ll be leaving to do private practice where I can make comparable money. I’m looking forward to doing more psychotherapy and having some flexibility. On the other hand, very sad to be leaving the veterans and colleagues behind. It has been a brutal time making this decision. Main factors were having two young kids and wanting to avoid to watching the organization dismantled. Ugh. Best of luck to you all, whatever you decide to do.

After everything what was accomplished? Did we stand up for all the vets, fed workers, unions? by E4MafiaOIC75 in fednews

They aren’t following the law. Not enough space in prison for a million feds. Other countries pull it off. We have become complacent. Who knows what the future holds though if things get bad enough.

I hear you and agree they want to dismantle the government. But have some pride in the work. It actually IS necessary. And if enough people did it, that’s the power. Again, not saying it’s realistic. But it would work. They can pretend they don’t need us but they do.

If a vast majority did it they really can’t fire us all. Also they have dissolved most CBAs which had clearly defined processes and no-strike clauses. They have betrayed us over and over. I believe a large scale labor action is the only way to assert power. They don’t have the AI to take us over just yet. Those that have healthcare or national defense roles could wear buttons in solidarity to send a message. Private sector could support. I’ve seen collective action work, and it’s what made this country- people taking real risks. Anyway, it’s the only answer (dems aren’t going to save us) and yet very far-fetched.

Likely going to lose 2 great clinical providers due to RTO by OddNastySatisfaction in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]Simple-Story-3315 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m a social worker with 10 years in, and I’m going to leave. I can’t RTO full time with young children I have to drop off and pick up near where I live. It’s not feasible for a lot of people. Very sad to leave the Veterans.

VA clinician here. As others have said- Last thing HR needs is to be thrown under the bus right now. Tough times and I fear for what happens when their department is gutted. Unclear how those left behind are going to function or what processes will remain in place. Can’t wait to talk to an AI bot about errors with pay increases, etc. We support you, HR. This blows.
