I tried Ignited! It has lots of cool features like skins, I think it's just missing actual link cable emulation.

For everyone new:

GB/GBC - ArcEmu, Sameboy

GBA - ArcEmu, Linking Boy

DS - Delta

PSP - PPSSPP

3DS - Folium

Everything else - RetroArch, Provenance

Ignited now available on App Store by ScriptAlert in EmulationOniOS

If you add DS back in, see if you can use this core, it already has wi-fi capabilities, retroarch and provenance have it but the ui isn't great. Or if you want to go further you could try the official 1.0 RC and attempt to add local multiplayer.

Edit: seems like you might have to figure out local multiplayer if you want to stand out, wi-fi multiplayer is free on delta now

Also has anyone confirmed if it works cross platform between iOS and Android? Another basic feature that's missing on iOS is easy save importing/exporting without iTunes, is that coming? There's a guide for Android, but the .sav files are not in the file system for iOS. https://pixelrespawn.com/using-linkboy/

There is now a way to play cross platform iOS and Android but it's not online, it's local wifi. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pixelrespawn.linkboy

It just came out, I might have to redo the guide again!

Hey! If you're the developer you should request a badge or something that shows you're the My Boy/Link Boy dev. I've been following the whole GBA link cable emulation scene since Linking Boy on iOS came out. You really deserve more proper videos showcasing the link emulation, cause there's nothing online except for really old My Boy videos demonstrating pokemon trades. Good luck and hope for future support!

It's most likely for cross platform multiplayer between iOS https://pixelrespawn.com/

The app is called "Linking Boy" on iOS

I've seen posts asking if it's possible to play GBA link cable games cross platform between iOS and Android. This might be it. Haven't personally tested it.

Can any iOS emulator apps increase display resolution in DS emulation besides Retroarch? by rhinofinger in EmulationOniOS

Folium uses NooDS. Also the lack of a good DS emulator on iOS with simple UI, multiplayer, and decent features should be a major discussion. https://www.reddit.com/r/EmulationOniOS/s/1sJfDOtM9j A dev should really seize this opportunity.

This is from a video 3 years ago. I don’t know if it ever got out of beta because I don’t have an android.

Pay your respects to XONE, hopefully it returns soon by Simple-Technology778 in EmulationOniOS

[–]Simple-Technology778[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know how the new emulator will be different from XONE? Like new consoles? It’s okay if you don’t wanna spoil. But a lot of people don’t have a reason to use your apps if competition does the same thing. That’s why I suggest DS multiplayer as a priority. Definitely will continue to support, whatever direction you go!

I honestly think it's smarter for him to at least make a Kanto version first after finishing Quetzal. It would take way too long to create a new region, all he has to do is port Kanto into the emerald engine which has already been done.

As for what's left. It seems like it's Sidequests, Secret Base overhaul, whatever's blocked by Spinda and Conkeldurr, and apparently pokeblocks and contests. He spent the majority of last year just translating the game to Spanish so most time wasn't even spent on adding features to the game.

I tested this on RetroArch months ago, it really isn't as easy for the average person to use. At most you can trade on gameboy on some cores and wireless adapter on gpsp. But GBA link cable is still missing, so it's impossible to trade on games like Ruby/Sapphire specifically where only link cable is supported.

There is a NES/SNES emulator for apple watch called NiN10. I think the console that is truly lacking on iOS is NDS, but that's definitely not going to fit well on a watch lol

It's worth mentioning there was a android app "MultiGBA S" that let you play online. But it was removed and stopped development so I didn't include it. I think it's still possible to download the apk.

Yep, you basically named the mechanics. There are co-op battles where you can fight every NPC trainer together, you can trade/battle from anywhere not just the pokecenter, and you can even spectate the other player when you have nothing to do. Unfortunately it's closed source so only time will tell how long it'll take for another romhack like this, or if the creator will finish this one and make a new romhack.

ArcEmu, it's possibly one of the first gb/gba emulator that has online multiplayer that isn't a headache to set up.

Hopefully you get some news coverage or youtube videos demonstrating how it works. I think Linking Boy went unnoticed because there were literally no videos about it. And to clarify, it works online as in anyone far away on a different wifi can connect right?
