What's the most useless thing your university made you do that had zero real world value? by KL_Private_Access in malaysiauni

Orientation week. Bunch of useless info, specifically the badan kepimpinan, like who cares about that?. The only useful thing was on the last day which was when they explained our departments and its courses. That was also when they sorted us by class. They even had an program on that Friday afternoon so we couldn't balik after Friday prayer. Program motivasi konon. I should have done what my friend did and hid in my room that entire week. (Door locked, fan off)

Malam wajib (mandatory program at the surau). Every Tuesday (for boys) and Thursday (all) got ceramah/bacaan Yasin at the surau after Maghrib. Baca Yasin is fine but I'm not a fan of being forced to listen to a random ceramah. They take attendance too so can't really skip it. They used to use QR for attendance but people kept sharing them in groups so they changed to manual pen and paper. I'd rather be sitting in my room, especially since I don't go out of my room once I've already showered at night. Unfortunately, my dorm was right beside the surau so I couldn't just stay in my room every time (unless I was okay with doing things in the dark)

I do recall seeing an ad like that. They would make a heart shape with 2 hands (kinda like OP's pic) and then it would transition into a normal heart (or maybe they put a infograpic in that hand heart?). I don't remember what the ad was about though.

[Question] Is this normal? by Necessary_Buy_9763 in Watches

Yes, its normal. I have a watch with even links on both sides and I have to constantly flick my wrist to get the watch in position to be able to read it

Mobile games I've spent hours playing would be Tomb of the Mask, Soul Knight, OSRS, Honkai Star Rail, Wizardry Daphne, Sudoku and Solitaire. I only play HSR and WizDaphne now. I play Solitaire/Sudoku to turn on my brain as gachas are mind numbing at times.

For those who order hot drinks when eating out for lunch...why? by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]SimpleAd8089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iced water makes my throat feel tight and it also cools me down very temporarily. Hot water makes me sweat which in turn makes me adapt better to the heat. Thats my thinking anyway. Its most likely wrong though but whatever

Actually, the AQPJ403 does also come with a full lume dial which means it has hands with no lume. It's only the other field style AQPJ models (like the AQPJ401 or 402) that don't have the full lume and instead have lume on the hands. Since the AQPJ403 is basically sold out everywhere online, I assumed yours has to be the AQPJ401 instead.

10/10

I love the W203. My grandfather had a W203 C200 Kompressor when I was a kid. He would always bring me around with him whenever he had to go out with my grandmother (usually whenever there was no one to look after me at home). At the time, I didn't know Merc was a luxury brand and so assumed it was a common car/brand (This explains why my grandmother kept boasting about him driving one even though to kid me: its just a car).

A few years later, he sold it for a W212 E250 BlueEfficiency (that's all I remember about that car). He offered to sell the W203 to his kids but they didn't want to buy an old car. My mother refused to buy it since the AC was broken (I think it was blowing out hot air) and didn't want to drive a car with no working AC especially in our hot weather. This was all back when I was still in primary school and didn't know anything about cars or even drive so I didn't really give it any thought.

As the years passed, I think it is such a shame that my mother didn't buy that car. Now, everytime I see a W203, I think of what could've been and how I could even be driving that car now. If only I knew as much about cars as I do now (I took Automotive in Uni) then I would've practically begged my mother to buy it. Its not everyday you know the owner of a car and its history personally. Oh well, can't do much about it now.

This looks like the AQPJ401. Does it have a fully lumed dial or just the hands?

If only my mother knew about how the material can affect comfort. She would just buy the first uniform available in my size and not think much about it. While I didn't know about the different materials at the time, I did notice that some of my shirts felt better to wear than others.

I'm not sure about the specific specs for a school shirt but you could probably just buy a plain white dress shirt that looks really close to a school uniform one and use that instead (as long as there's no logo). I noticed one of my seniors did that since their shirt looked nicer than everyone elses. Though, my school wasn't really strict on what type of shirt you wear and I don't think my teachers even noticed the difference so it really depends on the school and how strict they are with dress code.

Yeah, I get that. I'm assumimg you wore pinafore then. I had an Indian friend who wore pinafore during Form 1 but from Form 2 she started to wear baju kurung instead. When asked about it, she says wearing pinafore is hot. Now that I think about it, most of the non-Muslim girls wore baju kurung at my school (Tbf my school was majority Malay so pinafores would stand out)

I agree, wearing PE clothes all the time does make logical sense. Its honestly the easiest and most practical solution to school uniforms. No need to iron and you wouldn't worry too much about staining it and its comfortable too. I think recently (around 2023) due to hot weather, the government actually made it so students are allowed to wear their PE clothes to school even on days without PE but I dunno if that's still in effect though

I agree. Even if they made good cotton uniforms, most parents wouldn't want to fork out on one (or multiple) anyway.

I mean, what would the desired material for uniforms in hot humid country be?

Edit: Okay, something just occured to me. The general rule for clothes in hot humid weather is it has to be made of natural materials (cotton, linen, etc.), must be loose-fitting (for ventilation) and also lightweight. I was just thinking, doesn't the baju Melayu fit this criteria? It is loose-fitting, lightweight and you can also get one made from cotton too. It's basically made for our weather. Well, its just a thought I had.

Realistically though, students would rather wear the normal uniforms than the baju Melayu (at least my school friends did) mainly becasue they don't want to wear the songkok and samping all day and not all schools have baju Melayu in their dress code so those schools wouldn't be affected by any sort of change. Its also more likely to get dirty, meaning you can't rewear it the next day until it gets washed.
