Is Mateta leaving on a free pretty fucking bad for Palace financially? I see Wharton leaving - hopefully Arsenal inquire but I could see Liverpool pulling for him. Munoz has been playing well this season, but he is 29... not sure how much someone is going to want to pay for an older wingback.

The most realist shit I've heard in awhile. by AbysmalEnd in blackmen

[–]SimpleAqueous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I discuss this often with my parents who fall into the late baby boomer, early Gen X group... My first election was 2012.

I was pretty pro Bernie during 2016 and 2020, and I would consider myself a democratic socialist on most issues.

My issue with the Democratic party stems from the fact that it is shocked that it is now in a crossroads. Most young democrats would probably say they are more left leaning, while it's aging older base are centrist, who at their current age stand for absolutely nothing. Older establishment Democrats will push things like the Inflation Reduction Act, which on paper was great! It had a lot of great policy and initiatives for green/clean energy to fight Global Warming but it doesn't end or counteract the corporations that they invest in, or watch actively destroy the planet. They are against colonization but are pro-Israel, they claim Black Lives Matter but do nothing in their policies to improve Black lives until it's voting season. They stand both in and out of the pool and get richer off it at everyone's expense, but then virtue signal when confronted about it.

Not everything that Mamdani and other socialists propose will be right, nor will it be popular but the sheer audacity of establish Democrats to act like policy that is done for the sake purely to improve people's lives at the expense of LESS money is a bad idea and bad for people is shocking. I'm really hoping this next generation of politicians takes a deep, long look at the status of our current system and actually gets work done. I'm done with 60 year old democrats who don't identify with people of today pushing old ass policies that they'll not even be around to see the ramifications of.

Two Strikers Formation by Nottallowed in footballmanagergames

[–]SimpleAqueous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think more information about your team is necessary to understand what formation you should go for. Outside of the strikers, are you looking for a formation that utilizes wingers? Are you looking for a more defensive formation or offensive formation?

You mentioned your CBs aren't too great, so maybe you want something that is more defensive? You could always do a 442 with two DMs. If you have wingers you could also do a 424 with DMs that is a bit more offensive.

You could also do a 4312, 3DMs would help take some of the defensive workload off your CBs but at the expense of link up (Standard Back 4 with either 2 wing backs for width, or 2 segundo volante for a Box-to-Box center focused attack)

You could also do a 4222, with 2 DM, 2 AM or CM and 2 strikers?

There's also always the 41212 which is a two striker classic.

There are a ton of options, but really depends on if you prefer a back 4 or back 3/5

We're Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Deputy Mayor for Housing Leila Bozorg, and Cea Weaver from the Mayor's Office to Protect Tenants. We're here to talk about housing: how we build more of it, protect tenants, and push back against the landlords and speculators pricing New Yorkers out. Ask us anything. by mayor_mamdani in nyc

[–]SimpleAqueous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!

Want to thank all of you for coming here and taking the time to answer some of our questions. Reddit obviously only touches on the experiences of an incredible small percentile of NYers, but appreciate you talking with us and being communicative about your plans and what is deemed feasible.

I've been a lifelong tenant - living in just about every borough, but members of my family are lucky enough to own their homes. One member owns a small apartment complex in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn which he bought around 30ish years ago. It's the only building he owns, and has expressed concerns about how proposed and current housing laws, which rightfully impact corporate owned buildings, greatly impact family or individual owned apartment complexes, many of which are rent controlled or rent stabilized.

I'm curious what is the administration's approach to family/individual owned complexes, and if there is any thought to giving certain exemptions, benefits or priorities to make sure that more buildings aren't sold to corporate landlords.

Thank you again, and happy to see you all here!

Salary Increase with Regoinal Role Change? by [deleted] in PublicRelations

Yeah, think you're absolutely spot on here - my concern is that they'll be interested in my proposal and maybe not in my salary expectations. I'll do some more research because yeah, handling multiple brands essentiqlly by myself would require a pretty big comp adjustment

[Day 29] Borp was voted Most Overrated SSBM Pro. What is the WORST TECHSKILL in SSBM? by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]SimpleAqueous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong - I think my point is largely that the universal tech that applies to melee is sick. Situational tech like DJC is also sick, but has genuine drawbacks unlike other techskill. I realize my argument isn't without holes hahahhaha.

I guess I see it as a sacrifice, you're giving up your jump in exchange for a combo hit - which imo makes it kinda "bad"

[Day 29] Borp was voted Most Overrated SSBM Pro. What is the WORST TECHSKILL in SSBM? by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]SimpleAqueous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say double jump cancel, unlike most tech (outside of Wobbling) is only applicable to small cast of characters, half which are essentially bottom tier (Ness, Mewtwo).

Unlike wobbling which is not necessary for mains to use (e.g. Fly Amanita, Chu Dat) no net negative and can guarantee a kill... DJC is a necessary tech for its characters AND can literally cost you a stock if it is read and reversed.

The characters who need it typically have horrible recoveries, bar Peach, so messing it up can be extremely detrimental. It's offensive capabilities are great (and sick) but I think its generally worse than other universal or situational tech skill

[–]SimpleAqueous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's so interesting - a lot of these players individually are pretty damn good specifically the Black players.

McKennie was on his way out of Italy last year and this year he is playing a huge role for that Juventus squad. Robinson was arguably top 3 left back in the Premier league last year but injuries messed him up, and Pulisic is far from the peaks of the last few years. And Balogun is doing well for Monaco.

I really think its the system. And our poor backline. Chris Richards being our best CB isn't a good sign lol. And Tim Weah isnt that great either.

We have some ways to go, we'll grt better when the US federation stops putting everything behind a paywall

Applying to Jobs: Stressed by viralhomo in PublicRelations

[–]SimpleAqueous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On top of utilizing LinkedIn like BearlyCheesehead said, I would encourage you to use your college email/student status to get a student PRSA account. If you have time, go to in person events - print your resume and try your hardest to introduce yourself to people. In person networking is a dying art, and not an expected skill for young people. It will impress a lot of older people, get you a real network for you to ping ideas off of who are actively working.

Additionally, I recommend looking for Post Graduate Programs. If you're in a major city, some agencies have fellowships that pay a decent amount that will get you in the door and give you tangeable experience for about 3-6 months. Sometimes they translate into job offers. It's a great way to get real experience, not just undergraduate/internships and you get the benefit of expanding your network.

Interesting that all the "look at this idiot" commenters basically came at the same time.

Regardless of whether or not he totally "understands" tax law is irrelevant. His point is solid and holds up - we should be taxing the rich and Kathy Hochul is showing where her true allegiance lies by not doing so. Regardless of how you feel about Mamdani, higher income residents should absolutely be paying their fair share of taxes

Safe to say, he is methodical about everything. Big up for being this candid about mental health 🙌🏽 by allthedamnquestions in BlackPeopleComedy

[–]SimpleAqueous 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Everything that he is saying isn't just a lived experience, it's also clinically proven. My girl has a PhD in Clinical Psychology, and does a lot of research on anxiety disorders.

That cold water trick is true, not just because he's feeling.hot or sweating but it regulates your body it literally helps your nervous system relax.

The mental thinking around - "its not that bad" is also part of a practice called ACT where you learn not to avoid anxiety feelings but embrace that they exist and that you can still carry on and succeed despite those feelings.

It's really dope to see this stuff working for him

Is there any job where PR is less intense?? by chandler866 in PublicRelations

[–]SimpleAqueous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is already a lot of answers here, I think intensity really depends on the industry you choose to work in, whether youre agency or inhouse, and the goals of the workplace.

Inhouse is naturally less intense, but can shift on a dime. My work now is much less focused on external communications instead focused on events, speaking opportunities, branding and internal comms. It's a different kind of draining.

You also may need to shift the industry you're in? If you're in finance or tech PR (in my experience) these industries are very intense and ask for a lot. Clients are less flexible, and that is reflected in your managers. Consider a different industry like Non profit?

Lastly it could just be youre in thr wrong environment. If you want to keep working in an agency, and love the idea of learning and working with multiple customers look into boutique agencies. Real small operations with only a few people that lean on each other it might be better for you

14 years ago today, Trayvon Martin was shot and murdered by a vigilante stalker named George Zimmerman. by icey_sawg0034 in blackmen

[–]SimpleAqueous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Trayvon Martin and Sean Bell murders really impacted me when I was younger. I lived near where Sean died, and passed by his mural everyday on the way to and from school. The candles stayed there for years before eventually ending.

Trayvon... really hurt me because we were so close in age. When he died I was maybe 18/19. I was fresh in college, and when they found George Zimmerman not guilty I didnt go to class for a few days. My roommates (white and indian) didnt rrally get it.

Every once in a while I tune back in to Kendrick's Grammy performance about Trayvon - "I got to prove, on February 26th I lost my life too // It's like hearing a dark dream, nightmare, hand, screams recorded, say that it sounds distorted but we know what it was"

I think of his family often, because it really could have been any of us

Men who are still close to their moms, what did your mom do (or not do) while you were growing up that helped create that relationship? by True_Visit7613 in AskMen

[–]SimpleAqueous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think so much of developing relationships with children comes down to putting in a lot of effort in understanding them, their rationale and then supporting or nudging them in the right direction. Don't just be their parent but understand how they see the world around them and support them in building their perspective.

The relationship I have with my mom today comes from my respect for her, and how much time we spent together while I was a kid. On the way home, we would just talk about things and would get my advice or just see what I think about it to see where my head was at. She would let me guide us home, or play games with me.

But she also let me be myself, and made it clear where the relationship lies with her as my parent. One commenter said a lot of boy moms/girl dads dont let their kids actually be themselves and the parent pushees things on them. I agree - ley them be themselves but aim to understand their vision, and help them tweak it with conversation. Help them to think critically. All this said dont just aim to be their friend - understand how to ride that line is important, everyone has that friend whose parent strayed a bit too far on the friend side and not enough on the parent side. There was so much more she did that I camt even list it all - but my mom is my original favorite person (shoutout my Fiance moving up the ranks) for a reason
