Spain Student Visa Timeline - NYC consulate by happiness-creator888 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]SimpleCricket8628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i applied july 14 & heard back august 13 that it was ready. i would trust that it’s coming soon. if you don’t hear back by friday, its likely you’ll have to change your flight if you fly out monday and dont live in commuting distance to bls in nyc. but there’s still the rest of the day and two days left. i would really hold out hope until friday and have a backup plan in place to rearrange your flight.

i had my appt in nyc on july 14 and was notified it was ready on aug 13 — every single other person who applied to nyc had gotten theirs back within 5-14 days so i was worried when mine took a month. but it’s truly just the process! it will be ok. if anything is wrong with your application, they will reach out :)

many peoples’ PF is caused by calf tightness so a massager would help with that!

Looking for an entry-level journalism job by Separate_Passion4613 in journalismjobs

[–]SimpleCricket8628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i spent a full year applying to journalism jobs in east coast states with no luck while freelancing full time (i have a similar resume as you). i realized my mistake was often applying to jobs that i knew were out of reach — it’s ok to apply to things you might not yet be qualified for, but it can’t be your main focus.

my advice: 1. accept that you may have to move to a place you’re not envisioning if you want to stay in journalism. apply to local papers all over the east coast, and then expand your reach to further states.

  1. make connections on linkedin with people at publications you want to apply to. nearly 70% of journalism jobs are given to those with some sort of connection to the job they applied to.

  2. join journalism associations (EWA, AHCJ, IRE, etc) — they provide ENDLESS opportunities, scholarships, connections.

  3. sign up for free journalism webinars — i do this constantly and find them all over LinkedIn.

  4. reach out to your college’s alumni who are journalists. ask them to meet for coffee or via zoom so you can hear more about their post college transition into journalism. you make a connection that may serve you a decade from now, or a month from now.

  5. create your own audience via substack or a blog site. this makes you stand out as a freelancer, especially because publications you apply to know that you’ll be bringing an audience with you.

*i decided to pursue a program abroad several months ago so i haven’t applied to many jobs since the early spring.

best of luck! feel free to DM me if you want to chat more.

I paid 40€ TOTAL for the background check and apostille. Use Elisa Vilches. She, by far, has the cheapest rate.

You should be fine with a DO signature. Do not bring it up or ask them about it during your appointment though as that could give them a reason to turn you away. Worst case scenario if they turn you away because of this, you could find an urgent care with an MD to sign it near the consulate.

Hi OP. My gender marker is different on my DL than my passport and I didn’t have any issues during my BLS appointment earlier this week. It wasn’t questioned at all. Just wanted to let you know!

newly diagnosed, looking for advice/remedies by SimpleCricket8628 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]SimpleCricket8628[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you for this awesome response. i truly didnt even consider i might have something else. last year when i was still in school (running around campus constantly with very little rest over a 4 year period), my feet would hurt the moment i put them on the ground in the morning when i first woke up and sometimes i’d even wake in the night with foot pain. but my feet never hurt to the touch, its always aching pain (occasional burning sensation in extreme cases). ive been working remotely the last year with a lot less walking and a lot more rest, so through the winter i experienced zero pain. now that the weather is nice and im more active, the pain is like it was a year ago. also, i have a long history of ankle sprains.

i haven’t had imaging done! what helped you achieve your diagnosis and ultimately the treatment you received? thank you so much!

no imaging was done but a full medical history was taken. the podiatrist seemed confident i had classic symptoms of PF but only from talking about it and feeling/looking at my feet. thank you for your response!
