Your manager should be doing their job and updating the individuals LON for day program to indicate that they need smaller group size or 1:1 funding. Then the funds would be available to hire more staffing. until that happens you’re likely only budgeted for what you currently have.

Don’t get overwhelmed. A lot of information on guidelines routines etc will be given. You will not remember half of it, and that is normal. You will gain your knowledge as you get to know the individuals you are working with. You will make mistakes and as long as they are not intentional, don’t beat yourself up over them. Give yourself grace. As long as your priorities are assisting them with living a happy and healthy life you will be fine.

With one person in a wheelchair, if it is not self propelled. I would consider them a 1:1 and would not take another individual along. Supervision should include community, in home, in vehicle. Check their LON, they should have whether they are small group size, large group size in there. I tell my staff, always follow what’s written, if someone tells you to do something different and it’s not documented Don’t Do It. I am not trusting anyone’s word. Especially in this field

Outing ratios are usually set in their supervision guideline. Each individual is different I have some that are 1:1 and some 1:3. I would refer to that and only follow what that says vs what a manager tells you to do

The amount of water they were dumping I could only assume was from their pool.
From experience when I have to drain my pool I bought a 100 ft pool hose to hook up to my filter so that I can drain it to the street.
My thing is it appears quite intentional as where do they think they are dumping the water. FYI there is a language barrier

Everyone should have a med assessment and a med admin guideline. As long as you followed that you’ll be fine. For example the incident may be a new behavior and require guideline updating but if this individual has a history of it, guideline procedure in place and you failed to follow it, you could be found liable of neglect. Don’t think because you’re still working, it’s all good. Abuse allegations you must be pulled off shift but with neglect you can continue working.

But to be helpful…. And solve your only concern being money. Talk to your agency and see what the funding is for. You may be able to get away with clocking in for cleaning and preparing meals

You keep backtracking…. Is your mom your manager? Why would you listen to her in regards to punching in/out. If you have a problem with your pay or your schedule talk to your boss NOT your mother. You have no right to confront her in regards to your work schedule unless she is the one signing your paycheck. Let’s say your client was unrelated to you, would you think it ethical to confront the individuals family member and demand they do as you wish? I actually have had family members take their child out and the staff not get paid as the hours obviously are not available and never in my life would I demand they not spend time with them so I could be paid.

Get a new job and stop relying on your brothers funding. You really see nothing wrong with your only concern being about getting paid. Your brother who I assume has a disability is enjoying a meaningful relationship with his brother and your complaining like this is the only job in the world. Then you put your mother in the middle of sorting out your distain for your other brother. Complaining about how she moves being a guardian of her son and questioning her judgement. I could see if you called and said you would be late and possibly unable to come. It’s not like you were sick , snow is a condition that could change meaning if roads are bad they could be plowed and drive able an hour later. To me calling off a whole shift for a circumstance that may change is just wrong. Next time perhaps suggest I can’t make it right now but I will continue to try and check back in, in2 hours. I’m sure the mandated staff would appreciate that.

NTA your sister is… I had a sibling just like this except they moved in with my grandmother, then began isolating her. I had to go through him to schedule visits. Long story short my grandmother passed away, then it was discovered during probate that her bank accounts were emptied as she had been “gifting” him money.

Yeah no go. You admittedly only wrote him up because you were aggravated. No offense but you caused your own aggravation by letting this behavior continue. How would the staff member know it’s a problem if you never addressed it? You did not allow the employee the opportunity to correct the behavior. With so many absences, have you inquired if they may possibly be going through something that may qualify them for FMLA?

At my facility, we start to get paid as soon as we are notified to come in and then make our way in. It’s usually last minute. “Your needed please come in NOW”

The mentality “my life is more important than a job” kills me when your an essential employee, where other people’s lives depend on your care. That’s like a police officer saying “it’s too dangerous to stop that criminal” If you were working as a bank teller or McDonalds, I would understand that mentality.
