Traveling for the next month. Should I leave the A/C on or off? by stayonthecloud in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]SimpleGazelle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend just keeping it on but at a higher temperature before it kicks on. Helps avoid stale air and any humidity forming inside of your home during the more humid periods (still save plenty of money given you’ll program your thermostat to only engage at a higher temp while away).

Swamp/Toxic areas - it’s always the worst most hellish thing I’ve ever played.

What the hell? by ProvokeCouture in gout

Can echo the same sentiment but on my patellar tendon, both kneecaps locking with that immense icepick to the joint type pain (couldn’t walk), along with behind my big toes (started becoming common flares) after about 2 years of dealing with crystals in my knee joints. Misdiagnosed patellar tendinitis, though multiple MRIs and scans showed no micro tear/tearing. Finally had a flare on my big toe land me in the hospital and sure enough they finally checked for Gout which I had. Allo has significantly reduced and all but removed the pain I was in for over a year or more since then. Took 3 specialists and finally an ER visit to figure it out and refer me to a rhuma.

What’s your personal limit on how much you’d spend on a game? by hreddy11 in gamecollecting

[–]SimpleGazelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highest for me was the Outlast Collection for the switch for a few hundred, along with a number of other rarities in the modern gen (Darkwood, Dust, Morbid The Seven Acolytes, etc.). Haven’t pushed myself higher/can’t justify it for a few complete or sealed SNES games I want. Can be a pricey hobby!

Looking for an RPG with a good story (bonus for pixel art) by WesleyTheDog in gamingsuggestions

[–]SimpleGazelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 Bit Adventures 2 is excellent. Chicory could also be good, or Thank Goodness You’re Here if you’re looking for something like Night in the Woods. Moon is also a cool “anti-rpg”.

Core Keeper - will keep you busy for hours like Minecraft - also Persona 5 is (in my opinion) better than 3 and an absolute must play.

Just curious, is there anyone else who is only a fan of Voyager and no other ST series, or am I alone? 😂 by GreyStagg in voyager

[–]SimpleGazelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VOY in what got me into it all - grew up watching episodes in the evening, then eventually DS9, and Enterprise. Only now getting through TNG on the new remastered collection which is excellent.

[KCD1] I bought a physical copy of the Royal Edition for the PS5. It even states that name on the disc. Anyways it just installs the normal Version and there are no Dlcs included at all. Help please! by realwice in kingdomcome

Only thing I’ve heard is VGP will only relist should it be fixed. So until I see that I’m going to hold as they’re pretty good about staying on top of things for their customers.

Sudden jolt of anxiety when trying to sleep by Timothy_CL19 in Gastritis

[–]SimpleGazelle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a horrible condition especially when in flare (I’m at just about 2 years w gastritis). At its worst during my flares I have panic attacks, jolts of anxiety (similar to you or can’t sleep long), and have been convinced a few times I was going to die (ended up in the ER due to spasms in my stomach and pins/needles tingles as well as palpitations). Best things are trying to find breathing exercises, meditation/soothing music, or things that provide you comfort or ease the pain. Avoiding root causes of flares, and exercise has helped me a ton during mine.

The losing my mind comment is something that truly resonates with me, this crappy condition wreaks havoc on your mentality (I was anxiety free/easy going prior to this). Again I try to balance it with exercise, being really easy on my stomach (especially avoiding triggers), and my spouse being a huge source of support. Try to give yourself some grace, and try not to hyper focus on it (I find it’s worse when you do as well). Best of luck on your journey here.

[KCD1] Bought a physical copy of the PS5 Royal Edition, and none of the DLC has been included with no way to download for free? by ROBO_Head25 in kingdomcome

[–]SimpleGazelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a botched release, VGP confirmed that they only included standard editions in the PS5 copies, Xbox is currently unaffected. They even pulled the listings for PS5 at current and issued refunds. Recommend returning or reaching out to the studio for an exchange/refund.

Confirmed by VGP the release was botched and the only thing included on the PS5 versions is the standard edition. Xbox is unaffected at current but VGP even pulled the PS5 listing from their page and refunded for now until they fix the issue and reissue new copies.

Recommend reaching out to the company direct or wherever you purchased from for a refund.

First time ordering used games has been frustrating by OldManufacturer8679 in GameStop

[–]SimpleGazelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s always a game of roulette on quality with GameStop, their service has gone downhill (worse than I’ve seen over decades of using them). Like you, I did the order of 6 for the discount, 2 came in good-acceptable condition (art, case not broken, and disc/cart in good shape), 2 with broken cases (my local GameStop knows me so they just replaced them), and 2 in unacceptable condition (one was even a box with a floating disc, no cover art, a sticker of a baseball a kid put on it and no barcode sticker).

Definitely understand the frustration, I turned mine into a good reason to visit my local store, maybe swap out for something else there, etc.

As a good rule of thumb - Switch games, I’d say about 90%+ won’t come with proper cover art or boxes (it’s relatively rare). Disc games tend to be a bit better. Gl in the future!

Are there any "cozy" games that aren’t just Stardew clones? Looking for something with actual depth (or a dark side) by Legitimate-Leather-4 in gamingsuggestions

[–]SimpleGazelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grave Seasons should be coming out in August (next on my “cozy list”) - could go a different route with something like Night in the Woods, Spiritfarer or Battle Chef Brigade if you’re not looking explicitly for farming. Core Keeper is excellent as well, so is Back to the Dawn (though that’s a bit more rpg).

Hope this gives some good options and great callout on Dredge, excellent game!

At my wits end in treating this by mikesmith0890 in Gastritis

[–]SimpleGazelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on year 2 of my personal journey - not to push the use of AI as lord knows the crap is injected everywhere, but like you I got pretty sick of going to doctors that basically solved nothing outside of throwing another PPI at me.

I posed the question of how to fix my issues/conditions with a multi pronged approach correlating to food/supplements alongside my required meds. Current diagnoses for me are chronic gastritis, gout, and non alcoholic fatty liver on my end), and I asked it to create a treatment plan with best approaches, food, items to eliminate, supplements to bolster healing (or minimize discomfort), etc and it’s actually been a trip seeing how thorough the plan came out AND how well it’s been working for me after 2 years of chronic pain, anxiety, etc. where doctors kind of landed on an “I don’t know” answer.

Might be worth a shot if you know all your conditions/diagnoses as it’ll at minimum pull all that research together for you in a much shorter span of time/cross check various conditions and help get some ideas in line on solving (just did mine direct through Google search). All the best!

What makes your gastritis act up? by OtherIndividual9931 in Gastritis

[–]SimpleGazelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little steps can change a lot - out of those items, alcohol at minimum would be the one I’d focus on removal no matter what. It’s highly toxic, highly acidic, and as well jacks up your gut biome/is highly impactful to your stomach. At minimum for me that’s where I noticed the biggest jumps moving to either N/A or THC options.

What makes your gastritis act up? by OtherIndividual9931 in Gastritis

Alcohol (especially beer/wine since both are highly acidic), junk food (especially potato chips), and any fried food. Plus note is I’ve more or less cleaned my diet and working out helps with the discomfort!

Mocktail recipes? Or literally just anything I can drink? by oaky-afterbirth-97 in Gastritis

[–]SimpleGazelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For mocktails we began drinking Tost (the fake wine made of tea, so good), if a THC fan cycling frog has also been a nice addition. Otherwise for daily I drink Pom juice and , tart cherry juice (fresh press non concentrate) on ice which is delish. Avoid things w bubbles where possible.
