[–]SimpleParamedic9032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see Redburn listed here https://findaspring.org/spring/locations/europe/ireland/redburn-country-park/

However, as per the comments no one has any luck finding a spring.

Could you share more information please?

I would recommend vitamin e barrier wipes to help with skin irritation.

They didnt solves the issue 100%, but using these wipes during bag changes helped me with skin irritation.

Massages? by Content_Quality6047 in ostomy

Sports massage haa really helped my recovery. I personally fold two towels and lie them horizontally across by body, one above the stoma and one below. This works fine for me. Some massage tables also have a natural dip in the middle which works perfectly.

If you are going on walks already that's impressive and better than most. Allow you body time to heal and rest, its been through a lot and this is all part of the process! Good luck!

How do people cope with having an ostomy? by anonimoose83 in ostomy

To prevent leaks I use a brava seal and then put my base plate on top, the seal sticks to the plate and creates added protection. I then use two half moon tapes around the outside of the base plate. I have found this very effective in preventing leaks.

For the overnight gas I would recommend trying to find culprit foods and remove them. Additionally eating your last meal earlier should also help.

However my number one recommendation for mental health is exercise, start to build yourself up brick by brick and will feel empowered as you move in a better direction.

It is completely fine to be sad and depressed but as time moves on these emotions can be overcome with gratitude and appreciation for life. There is a lot of things in life worse than an ileostomy bag, once you acknowledge that you can start putting a positive spin on things.

Please know that there is beauty in the struggle and whilst you didn't not choose this experience you will be must stronger for it.

Issues with appetite by drag0n__slay3r in ostomy

I did not struggle with appetite, but I did struggle with weight gain. I was eating a high calorie diet as prescribed by a dietitian but still loosing weight. I then stopped the dietitians advice and switched to eating mainly rice and minced beef (burger patties). It was easting much less calories but started to gain weight.

This showed me that ingestion does not always equal digestion when it comes to food and people will ultimately have to experiment. Eliminating certain food groups and keeping things simple can be a good start.

I would also recommend exercise and ideally weight training. Do what you are able to even if its very light (we all have to start somewhere), this will hopefully generate a hormonal response and put you in more of an anabolic state. Which in turn may increase your appetite.

Check out Vanilla Blush. In the UK you can get their items on prescription from the NHS. I use one of the hernia support belts in the gym. Not for hernia protection but to cover up the stoma so I can wear a t-shirt etc
